Back of controller going blue?

Back of controller going blue?

IndieDevMike

Do **not** use acetone, use rubbing alcohol.

sepslitherx

Yeah I was just doing research and most things are recommending isopropyl alcohol solution so going to look into that.

IndieDevMike

Yeah acetone can eat away certain plastics. Rubbing alcohol doesn't do that.

sepslitherx

Would you recommend hand sanitizer if it contains the alcohol needed? Or should I just get the proper stuff?

IndieDevMike

I also will say that is just dye off of something else, has nothing to do with the controller. You could have touched your clothing or any material with sweaty hands which can transfer some of that dye to your hands and then onto the controller. Nothing to worry about.

sepslitherx

Thank you, you answered me as soon as I clicked reply XD thank you for the help. Probably is to do with sweaty hands thanks to the UK heatwave making me rub my hands constantly on my clothes.

IndieDevMike

you're good, i can see why this worried you though but I assure you its actually quite common especially since the controller is ghost white.

sepslitherx

Yeah I’m considering getting a blue controller anyways so me and my dad can play together. I guess I’ll just use the blue one all the time and he can use the white lol

IndieDevMike

I would not, as there is tons of other materials in hand sanitizer. You're going to want the proper stuff. You can just get a small bottle if the bigger stuff is too expensive or hard to find, given the time we're living in right now.

sepslitherx

Yep just found a nice spray bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol for £7 on Amazon so will order that next week. Is this definitely just a stain and nothing wrong with the controller itself? Just want to know if this is something that can wait or could be a bit worrying.

Trickybuz93

Clothing.

sepslitherx

and it’s definitely nothing to do with the controller itself like any corrosion? Just a stain and nothing to worry about technology wise?

Trickybuz93

Usually it’s clothing. Try just cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and see

sepslitherx

Yeah another poster calmed my thoughts and helped me realise that in the UK we’ve been going through a hell of a heat wave so my hands, clothes and everything is covered in sweat so easy way for dye to transfer.

ImNotHimm

Blue Takis? Dye from clothing or Fabric? Whatever it is, ~~acetone~~ *Rubbing Alcohol* will take it off

aldesal

Hell no. Do NOT use acetone on plastic unless you want to ruin your controller.

sepslitherx

I’ll look into acetone ty. And yeah I’ve never heard of Blue Takis XD most likely somehow from my shorts as my shorts are blue.
