TBF at one point they had Lopetegui and so many felt HE would be the one to restore the glory. lol
Im so happy it’s Lucho getting the credit he deserves especially with his own personal struggles. after years of being targeted by the media he’s shutting their mouths for the 3rd time in a row.
Weren't they actually playing well under lopetegui before the rfef/Madrid fiasco? Maybe not as well as now but certainly there was some anticipation before it all went up in flames
Lopetegui had the better squad in all honesty. He had 6 Real Madrid spaniards who had come off winning a UCL. They were playing decent football and could try to hold their own against harder nations but it could have been better with the squad they had at that time
IMO France is still the best team, even with the injuries
But yeah, Spain is definitely top 5, and a good manager makes a huge difference. Squad consistency as well, this is a very similar team to the one who made semi finals in the last euro and the finals in the nations cup.
I’m not comparing Germany to Costa Rica, but our defense sucks and we can’t score a goal to save our lifes. I don’t see us winning Sunday.
EDIT: I think our best shot is to let Mouki start, it’s helped us in the league immensely.
i think füllkrug is better, because he is completely different and opens up more options for us. mouki is "just" a better havertz, but you cant really feed him with crosses.
Yeah, I have a feeling the team will have difficulty containing Spain. Granted Spain is playing Costa Rica currently, but Spain may be able to pick apart the gaps allowed by horrendous defensive positioning with relative ease if those aren’t addressed.
That's not how sports work though. Spain can play great against Costa Rica and then poorly against Germany. This sub is addicted to absurd over reactions
Especially when you consider that Japan set up to punish Germany on the counter today - something Germany have proven to be vulnerable at before and something Spain won't do.
Germany vs Spain will have both sides trying to control possession and dictate play so there will be completely different dynamics at play that Germany may well deal with more effectively.
Unless they somehow upset Spain and win big against Costa Rica but yeah, Germany are done. I don't know how they beat Spsin if they struggle defensively and can't finish to save their lives.
Alba been amazing this calendar year. Maybe not showed up to full potential in big games but all the stats say he’s been vital for Spain and Barca in terms of creating chances.
International football also really suits both him and Busquets, obviously we'll see against better teams but the general lower pace of the world cup is great for smart technical players.
That's what I though first but on the last camera angle its very clear that it is a deliberate kick behind the ankle... Its not a hard kick but that's a foul. The costa rican player is just taking the gamble that the ref will not dare give a soft pen. Such a stupid way to give a pen...
BRO how does the Costa Rican FA give a new contract to Suarez right before a WC after BARELY getting to the WC (being bailed out by Navas) and alienating your best young player (Ugalde) because you set him up to fail and then railroaded him in the media.
At least he's getting found out now at the WC. Everyone saw this coming a mile away.
What a joke.
Spain are playing amazing football, but its easy to break spain. Apply pressure and they will loose posesssion, Spain is weak off the ball and not great in defending. If you give ball to Spain and wait for them to do a mistake it won't happen. Apply the pressure and see how their Pivot Busquets stumble.
Being a Barca fan, I know how to break their game. Busquets and Alba are their weakness. Not to mention, Spain doesn't have good number 9 on them.

Spain averaging a goal every 10 min in a WC Pretty decent I would say
they literally do it on the dot too
The perks of having the best manager at the World Cup. Great squad but Enrique is an advantage. Arguably the best team at the euros too
the best twitch streamer/manager*

Lmao that’s from when he ended the first stream by messing up the raid right?
yeah LOL
https://www.instagram.com/p/ClSuTsmSaCX/
I understand why the chat keeps calling him papa and padrique
😮
Forgot about that, is he posting today ? Or the next day ?
Probably tomorrow.
he said he wouldn't stream on game days, but he's been streaming every day the past week or so

the disrespect to Saudi Arabia
Yeah France defintelt can’t be uncounted for. Will be interesting to see how Rodri and Laporte are tested by stronger teams
All the goals saved for this
It was…pretty rough from Navas. Big shame…age comes for us all eventually…
Germany is going home lol
i wanted Japan to finish 2nd but i didn’t think it’d happen
I mean Spain was always going to win this game. Germany competition is with Japan for second spot.
I’m not comparing Germany to Costa Rica, but our defense sucks and we can’t score a goal to save our lifes. I don’t see us winning Sunday. EDIT: I think our best shot is to let Mouki start, it’s helped us in the league immensely.

I would say with a proper lineup, good tactics and good teamspirit/leadership we'd have a chance. But we have none of those sooo....
Yeah, I have a feeling the team will have difficulty containing Spain. Granted Spain is playing Costa Rica currently, but Spain may be able to pick apart the gaps allowed by horrendous defensive positioning with relative ease if those aren’t addressed.
Japan is more then likely going to be at Cost Rica in their next match. Germany is going to have a must win against Spain. A tie and it's all over.

[Might be two years ago, but Germany haven't improved and Spain has](https://www.espn.com/soccer/report/_/gameId/570646)
Welcome to World Cup season
Exactly. Germany can still finish first, like Argentina.
No, not the sub that has concluded the Premier League season after 14 games?
Spain's playing a pretty bad Costa Rica with only one player from a top league(Navas). Don't underestimate the germans
We still have to win vs. Spain to have a realistic chance
They need to either beat this Spain, or for Japan to lose to Costa Rica. Both are long shots at this point.
i mean victories are far from granted in the world cup
Yeah but Costa Rica are really bad and one of the worst teams in the tournament. Even Germany will cruise against them.
Exactly. If Japan also beats them it’s almost definitely over for Germany
Unless they somehow upset Spain and win big against Costa Rica but yeah, Germany are done. I don't know how they beat Spsin if they struggle defensively and can't finish to save their lives.
Doesn’t help us if Spain beats us though.
But so will Japan. Germany has Spain next, it's going to be a must win for them.
Spreading the goals between all the forwards.
That used to happen a lot back when Lucho used to manage prime MSN
TBF he did unlock the best attacking trio in history
First half penalty = lose second half, 3-4 Costa Rica confirmed
Alba in Euro 2012 form
Alba been amazing this calendar year. Maybe not showed up to full potential in big games but all the stats say he’s been vital for Spain and Barca in terms of creating chances.

He actually did show up in the big games this calendar year.
Same as Euro2020
Fair
r/ferrantorresballondor
Lmaooo there is an actual sub Reddit for?
City fans made it
Back when we believed
We have Julian now so no problem haha
Prepare for r/Lucasvazquez.
best sub
Lmao I'd want to know if ppl are still shitting on Lucho for his selection
Spain Ferran > Barcelona Ferran
Ferran's been playing well recently for us. His biggest problem is injuries. He also needed continuity after his summer long injury
i think his biggest problem is he feels more comfortable in the right wing, LE >>> Xavi
Yea I agree. He’s better as a false 9 or RW than LW.
He just needs to play on the right. He's always very, very good when playing on the right side and mostly disappointing when playing on the left.
Yes but he's overhated for Barça
He has been good for us but his finishing is like Vini few years back.
Also works for Morata and Asensio.
Today i feel spanish
I’ve seen this joke a hundred times since the World Cup started but it still makes me laugh
Ironically most spanish today felt japanese.
That's not going to save you come a Spain v. Germany
Spain have a real chance of winning this match
3-0 is the most dangerous lead
Tears in my eyes, Barca players contributing to every goal
Barça's best penalty taker so far
Asensio, Ferran and Morata are so much betterplaying for Spain than their own teams that it's stupid.
i wanna say the barca chemistry and play style is the reasoning for spains quality rn
Ice Cold
yeah they're going medieval on their asses
Spain have played the best football of the tournament so far
They haven't beaten powerhouse Saudi Arabia yet though
Yes, unless they beat the best they will still be doubted.
Which is why Arsenal will always have doubters
For my money they were the all round best team at the Euros too, just lacked that finishing touch
I would argue France
France looked insane
They are a good shout too
Best Barça penalty taker
Best team in the tournament so far
France was very, very good
Alongside England
but also playing against the worst team i think
Muy bien
Costa Rica: y’all got anymore of those second half come backs?
Lucho’s Spain > Lopetegui’s Spain
We're winning the WC, VAMOS
Campeones de Basket, Baloncesto y furbo.
Germany can start packing at half time
All they have to do is win against Spain. If the coach keep Busquets in the mid, it's the Barca midfield. They already know the recipe to beat that.
Germany is a million times worse than Bayern. Spain might send them to the shadow realm.
Spain is dominating so much. I expected them to win but this is more than I thought.
Soft.

Oh for sure. Didn't say it wasn't a pen, was just incredibly soft.
Extremely.
50/50

Not even close to being a pen
The defender misses the ball and hits the attacker's foot on the second attempt. Still a pen, even if it's a soft one
50/50
Not a pen
Seems pretty soft
Jordi alba is a such a pussy.
Concacaf proving to be the twilight zone play pen of the world
Today I feel sad
Yay Ferran :)
still waiting for the double ole clip
