I guess this is a thing. Googling "asteroid giraffes" was surprisingly fruitful, who knew.
While the specific giraffe measurement is British. It's been a meme for years that Americans will use anything but the metric system to measure things.
England always seem to scrape by and are awful to watch. We had our fair share of issues with Löw, but at least he won the World Cup.
I wouldn't say Southgate is a *bad* coach per se, just painfully mediocre.
I think he's bad because if you have the squad England have and you decide to play even more boring football than Getafe you deserve all the hate and criticism you get
No you don't. No one plays expansive football internationally. It's just not viable. Spain were boring just in a different way. Germany played 4 CBs at one point. France were primarily a counter attacking team too.
You're just looking for reasons to whine if you spend years complaining about not going deep in tournaments and then when a manager does take you there, you cry that he didn't do it pretty enough.
England fans of all people should know that great talent on paper don't necessarily result in success and great football in international tournaments automatically
Doesn’t every generation of England squad always have the “If you have the players they do…” hanging over them? They’ve always underperformed for the “star power” they’ve got on the pitch (in recent memory).
They’re getting (better) results, sure it’s boring but Klitschko was boring too.
We underperformed massively in the 2000s because of boring horrible tactics that are due to pure English arrogance believing “the English way” was on par with continental tactics.
2010s, just a lot of shit players to be honest. Have a look at the 2014 World Cup squad. The good players are either past it or really young. And then there’s the rest. 2016 Euros squad might be worse.
England are in desperate need of a tactical revival. Problem is we’ve always been behind Europe in tactics. Southgate is continuing it. We have a squad finally near the levels of the 2000s and we play the most mundane hoof ball set piece merchant crap. English football is still prehistoric. Foreign PL managers have revolutionised club football but it hasn’t seemed to catch on much at the international level.
This. With the exception of having to play the worst Germany team in years, the two runs we had in those tournaments were *extremely* soft, and Southgate crumbled in both that semi and the final. Both times we took an early lead and rather than push on and try and capitalise he completely shut up shop, opening us to extreme pressure for over 100 minutes of football when you include ET. That’s not to mention the debacle of bringing on two players just for penalties in the Euros final only for them to then both miss.
The point is that the football we play is horrible to watch and despite this boring pragmatism we don’t have shit to show for it, even though Southgate really should’ve learned from his mistakes against Croatia and not fallen into the same trap last summer. But he did. Because he isn’t a good manager
so many foreign fans try to deny the fact that English football clubs are English lmao. I had some Nigerian gooner tell me "Arsenal are not an English football club. they are a global brand team"
he refused to support an English football club. but loves supporting a "global brand team"
-_-
Everyone bangs on about how money has ruined the sport and how 'heritage fans' are important... but if you try and actually *quantify * why a generational, local fan, who has put into the club financially since birth basically (either them or on their behalf), then the inevitable conclusion on what fan matters more makes you a cunt.
I don't have any problem at all with fans supporting clubs around the world but idk there's a pretty bizarre disconnect from reality where we have to pretend every single person who supports a team is exactly the same.

Not sure if they go on road trips but Klopp did say early on that he has a lot of respect for SAF and he can't say it as Liverpool manager but it is what it is.
Almost every manager has respect for Fergie be it Wenger or Klopp or Pep or Jose. Even more people accept now that he is retired. And again almost everyone likes Klopp. We might not like the club he is managing but as a person he is a great man.
I believe the do keep in regular contact. Klopp also asked him about going to England and choosing a club, Fergie said to just make sure its one with a big history.
He's like me preparing for a photo. Nice smile-> Ok photo not clicked yet, let's prepare for better smile -> damn still not clicked, need to adjust jaw to smile again -> big smile with teeth -> No that's too big,ok one se..damn photo clicked
The funny thing is that it isnt his price to hold. I think he was just put off because he didnt expect to be drawn back by Klopp for a picture. Dont know why, but i find it really funny.
To be fair Southgate did look out of place if being compared to Klopp and Ferguson.
Klopp is arguably the best manager right now, while Ferguson is arguably the best of all time. Southgate just happen to manage England, that's all.
Honestly, of any manager of an English team, Fergie has probably hurt Bayern the most in European competitions.
I would still love a picture with the man. Class act and one of the absolute best, if not THE best to ever manage.
Fwiw Bayern have always been pure class around the Munich disaster and everything that went along with it. Can't speak for all United fans but at least for me you're one club I'll always really have a soft spot for
I like the respect shown. Fergie was the bane of my childhood, watching United win literally everything, but you simply can't deny what he did or the things he achieved.
I already knew Klopp was a great guy, and this cements it even further.

Klopp looks huge
He is, he's like 190cm
0.37 giraffes for anyone wondering
I'll never not upvote something measured in giraffes since that asteroid article
I thought I was the only one who saw that. Such a strange headline
What article is that. I’m very curious
This one. [https://www.yahoo.com/video/asteroid-4-times-larger-empire-161102977.html](https://www.yahoo.com/video/asteroid-4-times-larger-empire-161102977.html) I guess this is a thing. Googling "asteroid giraffes" was surprisingly fruitful, who knew.
0.37 matips*
0.37 Courtoises
That like a Tortoise?
You know what a turtle is Leon? Same thing.
Or 1.32 Toyota Corollas
r/foundthetoyotacorolla
But why is this a sub
The question is, is it a GR Corolla though
This is definitely an important thing to know.
3.37 Salah for anyone wondering
How many American football fields?
How many subs is that ? Or how many football pitches ?
That's like 1.5 washing machines
found the american
Or the Brit... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-10610491/Asteroid-half-size-giraffe-strikes-Earth-coast-Iceland.html
Weird way to measure an asteroid lmao
What is it with this sub That has always been a British reference
While the specific giraffe measurement is British. It's been a meme for years that Americans will use anything but the metric system to measure things.
Good bot
He looks bigger than 190 here, but maybe Fergie's just shorter than I realised.
Fergie's at an age where he's probably shrunk a decent amount.
maybe he shrinks or grows depending on how man utd are doing
Well he's still there so it can't be that
He just used to be a giant once.
Fergie used to be 5'11, but he'll have shrunk a bit now in old age
teutonic
Expecting this to come at the end of an OptaJoe tweet any day now
6′ 3″ in freedom units.
Na, we still use feet in the UK
He's 12 stones tall
Think you'll find it's 6ft 2" in ye olde imperialist measurements. Source: I'm 193cm and 6ft 3.
Actually both are 6ft3, you're just a touch below 6ft4.
You are 193 cm until you are 194. you don't round up.
Yes but centimeters are more precise than feet/inch.
It's a reference to the argument two arsenal fans had over Jackson Martinez age.
Ah I didn't know haha
He's no Finished, he's only 182
193cm is 6ft3?! I’ve been telling people I’m 6’4 this whole time…
You’re probably 6’4. 6’4 = 193.04
Southgate really struggling with the whole smiling thing there
Googled "how to smile" before the ceremony and is still trying to figure it out
poor guy couldn't find an indian guy explaining the concept that's why he struggling. ^(we joke but shoutout to all the educational legends on YT)
As a coder in my former life those guys saved me so many times.
Those tutorials got me through my first 2 years of CS in college. Bless their hearts
He knows Klopp doesn’t like him
I don't think it's that Klopp doesn't like him, but that Klopp thinks he's a bad manager.
Which is probably worse really
I think if I was an opposition manager I'd rather another manager didn't like me, than not respect me. Definitely worse.
[удалено]
Define "opposition", international football is practically a different sport
Southgate managed Middlesbrough to being relagated, that was not international football.
As a newly retired player over 10 years ago, bit harsh to judge him off his first job
I assume they just mean another professional manager. Southgate has managed at club level too.
It's a "I'm not mad, I'm disappointed" situation.
However also entirely accurate.
When did he say this?
The one that comes to mind https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/nov/06/gareth-southgate-surprised-by-jurgen-klopps-barbed-england-comments
It's not really a problem with southgate but he's backing his players fergie would have done it too if he wasn't a scot
Is he? No matter how you slice it getting your team to a semi-final and final of an international tournament probably raises you above "bad".
England always seem to scrape by and are awful to watch. We had our fair share of issues with Löw, but at least he won the World Cup. I wouldn't say Southgate is a *bad* coach per se, just painfully mediocre.

The next competitive game they played in a tournament was against Croatia and they won.
I don't think he is whatsoever, but Klopp has many times insulted his decisions as England manager.
Why doesn’t Klopp like Southgate?
He's constantly got a face like a teacher about to give you a stern telling off.
Didn't watch these awards, why is Southgate even there?
It’s the League Manager Association awards which is the union for professional managers including the national team manager.
Its so funny. So many foreign fans seemed to have detached the concept of the England team from the English football pyramid.
The flairs in the last Euro/WC gave that away. Funny seeing loads of big 6 PL flairs laughing when England lost.
Thats why the PL is the biggest league by far though. They went in hard for the global audience early on and it has paid off big time.
English being the universal lingua franca doesn't hurt.
You just described the entire nation of Ireland.
What are the two main religions in Ireland? Liverpool and Man Utd.
Swear I saw an Everton kit when I was in Dublin once, not a word of a lie.
Spuds and guiness actually, ya prick
To be fair a lot of the Liverpool flairs laughing at England losing were probably from Liverpool.
so many foreign fans try to deny the fact that English football clubs are English lmao. I had some Nigerian gooner tell me "Arsenal are not an English football club. they are a global brand team" he refused to support an English football club. but loves supporting a "global brand team" -_-

He doesn't want to be the third wheel. Ferguson and Klopp seems to respect each other's class.
To be fair Southgate strikes me as the kind of guy who wouldn't disagree with them on that. He's definitely not an ego.
This is me before any picture, and I always manage to choose the worst possible smile.
https://thumbs.gfycat.com/OddballDearAntelopegroundsquirrel-max-1mb.gif
I mean if i had 5 good RBs and no good CBs and was trying to fit all that into a 5ATB formation - I'd look constantly constipated too.
Partridge esque
I feel that… I only have about one photo’s worth of a fake smile
Don't blame Klopp. A pic with Fergie in it or just Southgate? Tough choice.
Klopp will have that photo on his desk, with Southgate folded behind the photo.
Klopp is brutal he'll use a scissors or surgical knive to cut him out.
Or just superglue someone face over him.
Pep.
Pep actually in a suit? It's wouldn't be believable if it wasn't a cardigan/hoodie, or some jumper meant for kids half his age.
he wore it alot from his Barca days tho
Reminder that his Barca days was 15 years ago
Hey, it ended 10 years ago. Don't make me feel old
for fucks sake
No way this is true
Fuck off, it really is!
Also in his first season at city
Aren’t Klopp and Fergie friends?
They unfollowed each other on Instagram.

https://youtu.be/bDUKG0137xY I think they’re alright if he’s congratulating Klopp despite the latter waking him up in the middle of the night
They have each others up to date numbers which is telling. They seem to respect eachother.

Not Benitez, though
Klopp gave him a hug just before as he accepted the award so I think they get on pretty well.
I think it's just that *everyone* likes Klopp, unfortunately. Even Southgate probably wishes Klopp liked him because he likes him.
Southgate, Paul Tierney and Des Kelly probably have a whatsapp group chat to talk shit about Klopp.
Even I like Klopp and I really shouldn't be..
I believe the do keep in regular contact. Klopp also asked him about going to England and choosing a club, Fergie said to just make sure its one with a big history.
Klopp and Ferguson: 👨❤️💋👨 Southgate: 🙂
Southgate is more of a 😬 to me
Gareth, smile, what you're doing actually looks quite threatening!
🙂>😐>😬>🙂>😬
He's like me preparing for a photo. Nice smile-> Ok photo not clicked yet, let's prepare for better smile -> damn still not clicked, need to adjust jaw to smile again -> big smile with teeth -> No that's too big,ok one se..damn photo clicked
Southgate managed to smile

Finally, time for some sex masochism.
Sree managers. Sree. Respect.
Who invited my man gareth?!?
he just wants to be included 😭
Nice fake hold by fergie
Hover hand!
Or the hand over
The funny thing is that it isnt his price to hold. I think he was just put off because he didnt expect to be drawn back by Klopp for a picture. Dont know why, but i find it really funny.
The trophy is named after him, that should be a good enough reason to touch it
NO TOUCHING!
I think it's fairly understandable why Fergie just automatically reaches for a trophy. Force of habit and all
He's probably just trying to make it look like he just handed it to hin
Yeah I never know what to do with my hands for photos
Mutual respect from Ferguson and Klopp there.
Meanwhile, Southgate thanking God he can be in a photo with the best managers of their generation.
To be fair Southgate did look out of place if being compared to Klopp and Ferguson. Klopp is arguably the best manager right now, while Ferguson is arguably the best of all time. Southgate just happen to manage England, that's all.
God it's so difficult to hate this guy. But very easy to hate Woodward for letting Klopp slip through United's hands.
"Come here! You will be on a picture with a Liverpool manager and you will like it!"
GET OVER HEEERRRREEE!
Calm down Scorpion…
You crazy bastard
LET THEM SEE YOU REWARD ME
"Finally got out of this liverpoop cunt oh shit he's pulling me back"
"imma steal the trophy heheheh"
Well , its named after him, he doesn't have to do that
Steal it anyway and dare them to stop an old man
It's literally named after him😭
"just as I thought I was out, they pull me back IN"
There’s an imposter

Ah yes, the derp dragon is a good shout as well!
Klopp looking like Dwight.
If you think he looks like Dwight now? [Look at how he looked at Mainz](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2f/Juergen_klopp.jpg)
Klopp made me realize that with a beard and better glasses, we all could look more handsome
Heh that's what I said the first time he appeared without glasses
Klopp: Blood alone moves the wheels of history!
Perfektenschlag
identity theft is not a joke, Jurgen
Love how Fergie hover-hands the trophy. It's like he doesn't want to touch one that isn't his.
Class act
Honestly, of any manager of an English team, Fergie has probably hurt Bayern the most in European competitions. I would still love a picture with the man. Class act and one of the absolute best, if not THE best to ever manage.
Fwiw Bayern have always been pure class around the Munich disaster and everything that went along with it. Can't speak for all United fans but at least for me you're one club I'll always really have a soft spot for
Klopp is one slick bastard, he knows there are 2 things Ferguson hates, Germans and Liverpool and then he does this to the old fella.
One of the three is not like the others! Can you find him?
🐴
Only one has multiple PL titles
Who invited my man blud vibes
Bro this is legit so fucking cute to me
When managers become successful they automatically start rocking the Simeone mafia black clad suit look
For some reason that wasn't the right Fergie I was imagining.
I like the respect shown. Fergie was the bane of my childhood, watching United win literally everything, but you simply can't deny what he did or the things he achieved. I already knew Klopp was a great guy, and this cements it even further.
Kenny counts Fergie as a friend, and credits him with being the first colleague to offer help after Hillsborough, so he's alright by me.
Gareth Southgate smiling like the T-800. 👍
Who invited my man Southgate? 😭
0 league titles beside 3 league titles beside 16 league titles
Game recognize game, granddad.

Klopp is an all round good guy, respect.
One highly talented manager to the next. Respect abroad
Southgate doesn't belong in that picture
Great managers
What a guy. My boss.
Agreed. And Klopp and Southgate is in the picture as well.
