The true winners of the transfer: Everton Football Club
One of the best preseason takes of all time.
Surely all four no 10s can play together?
Origi is only leaving, because he can't play Everton next season, as they are going down
We're happy to take him
Who's the Everton of Serie A?
Fiorentina or Torino maybe?
I would've said Genoa. Overshadowed by a local rival, relegated, and the last time they won something no one on this sub was born.
That fits Torino as well except the relegated part but mind you both Leeds and Burnley are both more likely to relegated than Everton.
Then add the part where their city rivals are one the two biggest clubs in the country, Torino is also probably more comparable in the size of the club relative to their countries
I’d have said Inter just because I feel like Milan is the closest parallel to us
In my head Juve = United
Inter = Everton
Torino = pre-takeover City
Yeah I see the Milan/Liverpool and Juve/United comparison but I definitely think Inter are bit to big for that to work
To be fair to Everton, they’ve won the 4th most first division titles in England, they’re not exactly small fry. It’s not exact but it’s pretty close
Everton have great history but they’re not a part of the current big 6, while inter past, present and future is one of the big 3 in Italy.
If you had to compare all the Turin/Milan/Manchester/Liverpool at the same I agree with your assessment. But isolated Everton works best with Torino
If he can beat Genoa every season that would be the most absolute of absolute wins
If Liverpool is like Milan, I would say Inter
how could u say that when inter won the league
This aged poorly :(
Aged like eggs
Are we? ARE WE????
If Origi stqys because of you not going down, I will curse Everton football club and never forgive you
Everton just made an enemy for life.
Pipe down. You’re already prime relegation candidates for next year.
I suppose we’ll see :D it’s hard to say what will happen on the future, but one thing will remain a constant; and that is the fact that you’re a cunt. Look at your comment history. Sad life.
I’ll consider the source. How’s Rafa?😂😂🖕🏼
Fat and Spanish, as always.
r/agedlikemilk, thank god
Origi set to become the first player with dual contracts after also signing for Stoke City.
Dual ownership used to be really common though.
you'll still might end up getting relegated on the last day. what do you mean it's over
Might be a bit hard tbf
Can’t fucking wait for him to cost us when we do eventually make it to Europe in 10 years time
With today's result... could be just 8 years.
Farewell, sweet prince
Throw-in distributed hastily
He was so close...
Huh? Either I'm having a stroke or you had one whole typing that
Right guess I am getting a Milan top
They are nice kits tbf
our last year kit was miles miles above this year tho
I'd say the same about ours
Come on no way you’re defending that teal collar monstrosity
At least that was a color from the crest. No idea who thought throwing fucking orange on our home kit this year was a good idea
I think it looks better than the current kit, the white away kit is fire though
I’ve always wanted either one
Most loyal r/soccer user
When people ask Ronaldo or Messi, I answer Origi
Divock in those Italian suits.
the real reason he went there is for Milan Fashion Week
I thought the same thing when emre Can moved there.
Loved Can in Milan
No more super sub :(
I can't see Taki staying either.. he could be a starter elsewhere. He has personally sacrificed a lot this season for the sake of the team but at 27 y/o, he will probably look for regular playing time
He's still under contract though, isn't he? I'm not sure he'd force a move. More subs next year, Origi gone, trophies....
^stay ^taki ^:(
Wow I didn’t realize he was so old. I remember when he joined you guys a few years ago and I just assumed he was a youngster
He actually joined in 2014, though we loaned him back to Lille for the remainder of the 2014-2015 season. He's been around longer than Klopp.
The person you are replying to is talking about Minamino who joined in 2020
tbf they're both 27 and I found it hard to understand who they were talking about.
Really? Keita’s a permanent part of our midfield rotation now, even starting big games. Definitely our fourth choice in a three man midfield that we rotate a lot. He’ll only play more as Henderson gets on in age.
a 60mio 4th choice is silly. Wouldnt it make more sense to try and recoup the money and take a chance on someone younger, and less injury prone?
When you're trying to compete with City who have $50+m backups in every single position bar GK it's basically necessary. This is the first season Klopp has had a bit of depth and he's been able to finally compete on all fronts. Previously he had throw the U21s at cup competitions and hope for the best.
You compete with City spending significantly less than they do already. You don't need to emulate them in that regard. You have had some high profile and expensive signings, but you have had some really shrewd purchases that have really paid off. Matip for example is solid AF, free and originally just a back up. Milner, finished at city, free, absolute trooper. Salah, failed in the prem with Chelsea, risky to take him back, but paid off and a bargain at 40.
> Previously he had throw the U21s at cup competitions and hope for the best.
isnt this how you found Trent?
I'd say we would still do that while keeping Keita so we have at least 4 first team ready players to primarily rotate with. We already have Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliot who are the future potential stars that could follow Trent's trajectory.
As for Keita's value, I don't think the 60m matters a lot now. We paid it 4 years ago or so and he's played for 3 seasons and contributed very well in at least one of them. He's a vital part of our squad now but not really a star yet and will for sure not fetch more than 35-40m if he's moved on. Why take the loss when we have a player who's well acquainted with the system and is highly capable already?
> Why take the loss when we have a player who's well acquainted with the system and is highly capable already?
to be technical you have already incurred the loss on your BS due to the depreciation of the contract.
I don't follow Liverpool enough judge properly, but it seems like he isn't used or has been near as what was expected, especially for 60mio
I don't think anyone thinks he's been worth 60m, however he's gradually been getting better ans I think in two years we'll have him in a good spot to sell or keep
I mean he probably didnt justify the price they paid - but he is still a decent player. Selling him and getting a replacement is probably not helping them out. Once the transfer is done you should really just forget the transfer fee, it is irrelevant.
Their midfield has insanely high workload and they rotate a lot. Trent and Robbo do a lot of progression of the ball and midfield needs to cover for them. They need a lot of players for such rotation.
that would be the stupidest thing to do. say we sell him for 30 and buy a prospect who costs 30. new player needs to adjust so we have a missing mid and them what if he just turns out to be a 10m player? now what? just lost more money. its better to keep a player already Integrated to the system.
I genuinely feel like if we kept him fully fit next season he’d finally break through and justify his value or we’d finally be at a position where he would be sold and there would be no more what ifs.
I think give him one more season and Ox is definitely the one to go this season.
I like him
I do like him and think he shows moments of brilliance but he can’t keep himself fit enough to develop into that next level.
Ox couldn't make the team against Southampton over Jones and Elliott. I like him but I reckon his career with us is done
He started in the cup final 3 days prior pal
What are you on about? Ox wasn't even on the bench
Thought the comment above was on about Keita my misunderstanding
It was pretty ambiguous to be fair. I also thought they were talking about Keita
You’d have to be pretty thick to not see Keita staying next season
Still one CL final to go though. He will score or be decisive in some way. It's the only way.
PL winner in the 92nd.
He scored a last minute winner against wolves last time lol he can do it again
I'll drive him there myself.
Would you mind picking everyone else up along the way? Gabriel Jesus, Mahrez, Ziyech
We’ll split the gas
tbh with the way gas is now it’s probably cheaper to just straight up buy them
Foden, take fucking Foden. So I don't have to see his cunty fucking face and shitty haircut every week.
Probably be awkwardly silent the whole way. What is that, a 16 hour ride?
It’s great to see what Liverpool fans are saying about him.
I’m a big fan of this transfer but many people in the Milan Sub are shitting on him.
We absolutely love him, pretty much without exception, and while a lot of it is down to his clutch performances in limited minutes, I think a fair few of us also rate his chances of doing the business in Milan. Either way, delighted to see a truly massive player for us going to a truly massive club
I genuinely can't remember a time when a player left the club and I wanted him to do better than I do here with Origi.
Wijnaldum comes somewhat close but you couldn't pay me to wish success on PSG. That was more of an "I hope he leads the league in goals but PSG win nothing" situation.
With Origi, I want him to lead Serie A in goals, and I want him and Milan to win everything they compete for (unless it's CL and against Liverpool, of course).
He rarely got minutes, and never bitched about it. Whenever his number was called, he was ready. I understand the trepidation of Milan fans, because he's still largely an unknown. No one has had to truly lean on him long-term for goals as of yet, so it's one of those signings that could go either way at the end of the day, but I have high hopes for sure. I truly hope he works out and wins over Milan supporters the way he did here, twofold.
> unless it's CL and against Liverpool, of course
You better not win it this year, or we're coming for you next year. We don't share second place, lol.
Seriously though, I think Origi will do well with us, and it might be exactly what we need. Our greatest weaknesses right now are our right wing and our forward/finishing (or lack thereof), so for one of those we could definitely use someone like Origi, provided that he can perform consistently.
Many Liverpool fans will recall Divock's form during the 2015/16 season until Funes Mori's reckless tackle in the derby. Of course the clutch, rarified performances in recent years too.
Top guy off the pitch. Relatively quiet too so no controversies to split the fans.
Fuck Funes Mori
And while we're at it, r/fuckramos
What a sad subreddit
noone can predict if he works out, it not only depends on his ability but also on if he's right for the style and system. it's a gamble, like most transfers are. who would havv thought lukaku would stink up the league rather than win the golden boot. give him a chance and maybe he'll be exactly what you need.
>but many people in the Milan Sub are shitting on him.
They must be idiots. He has buckets of experience that even Zlatan doesn't have and he's only 27 years old. Fitness isn't a problem, attitude is great in training, quality on the pitch is there to see for everyone.
Just needs a system that suits his skillset and playing time. It's not far fetched to see him pulling a minor Lukaku in Serie A.
Who knows what happens but he's an absolute top finisher. We were lucky to have such a quality player in a squad role.
Everyone knows it's a depth purchase. It's a free transfer. At best, he shines. At worst, he's a competent rotation player. What more do the fans want?
Unfortunately there are some absolute morons in our sub.
When he embraces you dont be nervous. You're in good hands
What in the condescending fuckery shit is this
Yeah, the our sub does that for some reason. They shit on our own players, let alone others.
literally everyone is on board with this wtf are you on?
Lol that’s not remotely true.
He has left great memories for Liverpool but he is not exactly a goalscoring machine
Then they're being ridiculous. I watched AC Milan play Liverpool twice this season and none of their players had the ability of Origi.
If you mean no one does what he does with better quality (finishing, whatever), you’re right. If you mean he’s now the best player on Milan, you’ve lost your mind
Definitely agree. Our finishing is pretty abysmal minus Leao, Theo (for a LB), and Rebic on his day.
Rebic whenever he gets to actually play. 😥
Well yeah. He's already the best finisher at Liverpool, a team with 5 players that can be considered up there at world class level.
Don't be ridiculous he's not the best finisher at Liverpool.
He is the best finisher. Name me one player with better finishing at Liverpool.
Don't say Salah. As good as he is at finishing, Origi is better finisher. Salah scored a lot of goals because of his movement is one of the best in the world, but his finishing is just great, not the best.
yeah honestly the one player who I'd put up there close to him is maybe Jota.
Klopp has said before that he is. I don’t personally see a reason he couldn’t be, tbh
I've always seen him as a player who could be great, but just never fit Klopp's system. Origi is more of a hold-up specialist, pure striker type. Klopp obviously prefers his front line to be a kind of fluid, constantly-rotating, three-headed hydra made up of attack-minded players. A pure striker just tends to disrupt that setup, and that's why I feel he was never utilized as much as he could have been.
Even if he is the best finisher on the team, being on the Liverpool front line simply requires more than that, unless there is a need (injury, cup rotation, down in the 80th min, etc.).
Anyone who thinks "he was barely used by Klopp, how good can he be" is not looking deep enough. Klopp absolutely loves him. Under a coach who employs a striker, Origi has real, true value. I think Milan fans are going to be impressed, and I don't think it will take long.
I'm sure he means the former.
What was the transfer fee? Couldn't be that high.
We only paid £10 million for him back in 2014. I think we got our money's worth.
He already scored goals worth 100mil.
His contract will be up so nothin. I think I saw his salary will be 4 so X however many years he signs for
Now imagine AC Milan with the Origi Effect activated.
Zlatan to feel ten years younger with Origi on the field
Zlatan has to be done after this season
that's what they said last season
Yeah but he played back then
And the season before that.
and the one before that
I can't tell how old Origi is. He isn't 30 yet is he?
Man. He's still got his peak years ahead of him then.
His whole life is peak years
Zlatan will have finally met his match then.
Time doesn't affect Zlatan. Zlatan only ages when he pleases.
he mustve been pretty damn pleased then cos he looks older than my nan
Number 8 on its way for them
Well he’s gotta be better than giroud rn
🥲 treat him well Milan
End of an era
Is this how it felt when Aguero left
Just also build a statue of Kroos outside to remind you how great Origi is/was
Farewell Divock you fookin absolute legend. Will always remember your clutch goals and performances. Amazing player to have in the squad. Take care of our lad Milan ❤️
May the phrase 'Corner taken quickly' be forever immortalised in his honour.
Yeah I will never foeget it..
> Liverpool forward Divock Origi has agreed personal terms with AC Milan.
> While a contract has not yet been signed and a medical has not taken place, the Serie A side appear increasingly certain to be the forward’s destination when his Liverpool contract expires this summer.
> The Athletic reported in April that Origi had been mulling over a lucrative offer from Milan after a season when his opportunities have been limited.
> The Belgium international failed to play enough games this season to trigger an extension clause in his contract.
Gonna miss this glorious bastard. Looking forward to seeing how he does at Milan though, I think he'll do bits for them.
The bad man can’t hurt us anymore
Scenes when his last touch as a Liverpool player is a Champions League winner
Proper ending to his time with us. Powerful.
End of an era. Farewell you beatiful man 😭
I'll never forget you big man xx.
Leao and origi will be lethal!
Is he the Zlatan replacement?
Origi will be great in seria a. He’s so underrated. One of the best finishers in our squad.
Stop with these "updates" saying the same thing 10 times
We knew Origi is a done deal for like 3 months now. Same news recycled over and over combined with English journalists just now finding it out about the deal make this spam happen
Goodbye you beautiful beautiful man
Amazing super-sub. Scored lots of vital last-minute goals for Liverpool
Fantastic move for him, I expect him to bag 25 goals a season in a team that suits him, very very talented player.
Too late Pearce.
What a club to be for Origi. Hope the same for Taki
End of an Era.
it's been an honour, my lord 😭
Dammit was hoping he would sign new contract. So its really true that he is moving on
Good bye, legend!
I miss you - blink 182
Farewell! Now awaiting a summer move for Minamino as well..
I holiday and have some business interests in and around Brescia and Pescheria del Garda. So instead of flying in and out of Bergamo like normal, I will fly out of Milpansa after seeing Origi line out for Milan now.
Genuinely believe he'll do well for Milan in all seriousness. Generally his goal to minutes ratio is excellent, but when he plays centrally it must be insane for Liverpool. Hardly Ibra or Giroud with his back to goal, but he is above average. Has a good sense of reading the play and runs of others around him.
Saying it for awhile on here. People were overlooking him when he was linked with their (PL) clubs.
Giroud has been almost entirely useless as a target man and Zlatan can't play for more than 10 minutes at a time anymore, Origi will be an immediate upgrade.
Hope he got one last cult moment in him. Crazy to think he's one of our longest serving players too
Goodbye sweet prince
He deserves great things and I really hope he succeeds but man am I sad to see him go.
I wonder how many other players have scored the winning goal in a CL semifinal and the final goal in a CL win
Thanks I’m crying.
This makes me way too sad. One of my fav players to ever wear the shirt. :c
thanks for everything big cock
This is a sad day, this guy is a true hero and we will hugely miss his him. A player with his mentality in the highest pressure situations is incredibly rare to find.
Legend, I'll never forget his goal against Barça. Wish him the best at Milan.
A cult hero if not given enough minutes to be a legend at Liverpool. Did a lot of stuff off the pitch too and is just a class act.
Now get firmino as well. Now that would be a signing
