He's a player of moments.
Some so sublime, you can hardly believe your eyes, especially given he's 19. Some so risky, that you clench so hard that your intestines poke through your nose.
I'll give you an example. He has a habit of taking a heavy first touch. Ordinarily, a player would trap the ball and then change direction. He starts by sending the ball in said direction with that touch, completely taking by surprise any pressing opponent and thus, beating him. It's very effective. However, he also does this in our box.
Yesterday, he started some great attacks through this. However, sometimes he's unable to have complete control of the ball because it is farther away from him. Once during the first half with us on an attacking transition and them counter-pressing, he did the same. But the ball rolled farther than he intended it to or perhaps he didn't anticipate Correa (IIRC, CMIIW) to be able to cut it or both. So as a responsible CDM having lost the ball in our box, he did what he must: charge towards it and lunge in with a sliding challenge. But, he got the ball and that was an excellent, excellent tackle.
That's Cama in a nutshell.
It was expected. In fact Atlético could have scored some more goals if they weren't so shit in fron of the goal. Madrid could have also scored something.
Referee was pretty bad overall. Savic deserved a yellow card at the start of the game for that challenge against Nacho, especially when we later saw similar tackles getting yellow cards (Lucas Vázquez). Penalty was pretty soft, 'penaltito'. Cunha was already falling when Vallejo steps on him, so it was in fact an irrelevant contact, Atlético was lucky to get a penalty from this play.
I think overall our players did a fine job, Vallejo was ok, Lunin made a couple of saves, you can't expect more from players who never play. Notable mentions in Asensio and Casemiro. Horrible game from the first one, who seems like he already checked out off the team knowing he'll be shipped to another team in summer, he just doesn't give a shit anymore. At this point it would be better if we just played Arribas or Peter from the academy team, at least they would try.
Casemiro has to improve a lot. He's been average or below average during the entire season. He's too slow and still play like he thinks he's the only player in the field, he needs a whole minute to figure it out what to do with the ball every time he has it. I literally panic when he has the ball in his feet. I think we should do everything to get Tchouameni this summer.
He does. I'm not asking him to become Xavi on the ball but he needs more awareness and react quickly to what's happening around him. Keeping the ball and falling in order to get a foul doesn't always work.
I would understand some criticism against Case but not based on yesterdays game, I’ve never seen Case playing so happy. He looked like he was floating throughout the whole game, looking really comfortable playing higher up, driving the ball into half space. If he’s playing this version against Liverpool he’s pocketing the whole midfield.
I know it's tough competing with Benzema, but it looks like Jovic just flat out stopped giving a shit about even challenging for a roster spot for Real at this point.
He's absolutely useless as a 9 for us.
Doesn't help that our 9 has to be very active and mobile since we don't play with an attacking central midfielder.
You can see he has quality, but just not for us and not with our system. He needs to go play for a team who plays 2 strikers.
Not a direct answer but I covered it in part [here with some illustrations from the game.](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/ul9gdv/-/i7uiq5e)
He should really depart for his own sake IMO.
Short: Yes
Long: he doesnt fit our style and at this point I think hes worse Icardi; I cant even say what his qualities are at this point, he dont press, he doesnt help with build up, his finishing aint that good, his headers arent as good as you could expect, he cant shield ball because his ball control seems bad.
From what Ive seen I would say he was 1-2 season wonder and was bought because he was young striker that looked promising and Benzema was at 30 so we looked for someone new who would slowly become starter - he aint that guy.
People tried to justify him by saying he didnt got enough time because of Benzema form but his loan at Eintracht just prove he stop giving a fuck, hes form seems off, hes doesnt seem to care at all, kinda like Bale.
I hope he will leave at summer for anything above 30mln, dude is just taking spot in the squad, I prefer Mariano over him.
Real fans would give you a better answer but from what I've seen, he hasn't done anything to adapt to what Zidane and now Carlo wants.
You would think training with Benzema he would pick up some of his traits and improve his overall game and help convince Zidane and Carlo he could be a good option.
But considering he's rarely picked, and when he plays he looks like he just doesn't care about even trying to salvage a career there.
So as a Real supporter Ill give my non biased insight on Jovic. Since the day he joined he has show no qualities of being a top star. He has had glimpses where you can see the potential but aside from that he has shown nothing at all. I wouldn't even be surprised if his market value is less than a mill. There are alot of supporters of his in the community so anyone who dares criticize him gets down voted to oblivion.
Here is Essentially what Jovic does in a match: walks/jogs around the pitch for a bit. Then just stands next to/between the opposing center backs and hopes for a throughball or a ball over so he can counter. The thing is, he has no pace so even if he gets the most perfect throughball, his position and his lack of pace will completely ruin any chances. He does occasionally (and by that I mean once a game) drop back to receive the ball only to pass it back again. It helps alleviate some pressure off the midfield but nothing like what Benz does. His biggest weakness is his position awareness. He just sits there between defenders and waits for the ball. I know he is a poacher but come on.
His moments of brilliance was his back heel pass to Case last season which looked amazing. Outside of that I can't say he has had much more to offer.
Jovic is simply a formation player. He needs a second striker who does most of the work, and when they pass the ball to him he will score cause he does have a killer finish instinct.
He has shown this in a couple of instances where he has managed to score some offside goals or hit the woodwork.
He's definitely not a bad player but not a player who belongs at Real Madrid. At least Mariano (who potential wise doesn't even compare to Jovic) is better because he runs and presses. In a two striker system I think he can thrive.
I saw his killer finish instinct yesterday. And check all the games he played how many time was he in a clear chance and missed it. Ok Oblak saved it but honestly he couldve shot it better
>He needs a second striker who does most of the work, and when they pass the ball to him he will score cause he does have a killer finish instinct.
The curious thing is that when Jovic was at his best in Eintratch, he was the second striker. The 9, and main target was Sebastian Haller. Jovic was the more mobile of the two. But somehow in Madrid he just dont do anything. Dont play like a second striker but also doesnt show the hunger for a goal a 9 should have.
I've got mad respect for Carrasco. He's got a lot of heart tbh. I remember the final when Dani went out and he fucking skinned Danilo alive. It wss embarrassing to watch. Dude puts everything into each match and doesn't do it in a way you lose respect.
In the 16/17 season, Carrasco was playing his heart out when Real Madrid won 3-0 at the Vincente Calderon. He was very unlucky to not score at least one goal. I respect him as a player.
ok, I didn´ t watch the match or even heard about it but let me guess, Madrid came out without their good players and Atlético still kind of struggled to score 1 goal
Atletico was good. I'd even say great but it's Madrid's almost B team, so I thought good would be fair. They missed chances too btw. It wasn't like they were struggling to create
It was almost the B team playing, Atletico played at home with their A team as still didn't score, except for that penalty. I would say our second team did well.
Courtois, Carvajal, Alaba, Nacho as LB, no KCM on the same time on the field, Asensio playing 90 minutes. And most of all: Jovic actually playing 60 minutes.
Courtois, Carvajal, Alaba, Nacho as LB, no KCM on the same time on the field, Asensio playing 90 minutes. And most of all: Jovic actually playing 60 minutes.
(I decided to just repeat my post because your reply obviously completely missed the point)
> All the B team replies coming when the only key player that hasnt played for Real was Benzema.
This was your post. It has nothing to with market values or anything.
(Btw those are completely imaginary numbers anyway)
I would be more worried about your teams inability to score from open play, against that make shift defense, instead of pretending we cared about anything from this game other than no injuries
Considering that Valverde has been starting as RW in the most important games I highly doubt that. And again: He is not amongst Madrid's best 11 players, and probably not even top 15.
We got so many wasted spots smh
Imagine Jovic, Bale and Hazard performing remotely close to what you should expect from them. This team would be scary.
I have hope for hazard, cause A I’m dumb, B I never learn, and C because he feels like he wants to be part of the team.
Jovic and Bale I have fully given up on them, we are luckily heading towards a clear out and few under performers should be canned
Wait, has Reinier been playing as a striker for you guys? Because he was a attacking midfielder with us.
His first years in Europe have certainly been weird, when he left Brazil his numbers number not only were better than Rodrygo's, but they were also better than Vini's.
Yet, he can't leave your bench, unlike Vini who has basically been a starter since his first season (but let's be honest that Vini is an exception, we can't expect this from most 18 years old) or Rodrygo who made impact coming from the bench in many matches.
He's been played on the wing and that is out of necessity because all our wide players have been injured somehow and Reinier is hardly going to play ahead of Reus/Brandt. Our new boy Jamie Bynoe Gittens in one appearance against Bochum has left a better impression than Reinier and the initial comment was mostly a jab about the bundesliga tax. Reinier might prove me wrong and serve as a decent squad player for Madrid or be a decent player for a midtable Spanish league but his time at Dortmund (and lack of it) tells me that either his attitude in training is shit or he is simply not good
On paper Real Madrid's B team doesn't look that bad but dear lord on the pitch it's completely dysfunctional, could barely get out of their own half. Fingers will be pointed at players but honestly Carlo should get a good portion of the blame imo, other teams don't look this lost when they have to rotate heavily
Its because Carlo never rotates. Our B team is not used to play with each other. You can't click suddenly when playing first time with whole new setup.
I knew people were going to overreact to this match.
We played 2 heavy physical matches against Chelsea. And then 2 physical matches against City, including 120 mins just a few days ago. Oh and in between we managed to win a La Liga despite having several tough games between the UCL ties.
We coasted today. With a dysfunctional lineup, and a team that had most of the week off (they only trained yesterday). I doubt we spent much time doing the regular in depth prep work we do for every team.
So who cares man, it was a game to enjoy the vibes. Nothing more.
I promise you, no real Madrid fans anywhere is mad.
They aren't resting for a game 20 days from now.
They got rested from a match they played a few days ago.
The team also just trained yesterday.
After that amazing comeback they deserved some slack.
To this day I think that saying shit like this is the biggest cancer you can read from football fans.
Simeone just won one of the 2 biggest derbies in Spain and whats even more important, greatly increased chances for qualifying to UCL.
Considering his professional (horrible season) and personal life (father died) have been in pretty serious strain for the past month, I'm sure winning meant more because of the reprieve of pressure than it did the pure football aspect.
We've sucked a lot harder against teams much worse. I think you overestimate how much Atleti fans expect from this team, the fact that we didn't get our ass handed yet is a W in itself lmao.
thanks for helping us grab 3 points in these needy times and ensuring we dont sell Oblak/Felix/Llorente at summer due to missing out top4. good guy Real helps his besties 🫶
i think this is a deserved win for us. our finishing is so bad and man, even though i strongly dislike Madrid, i can’t deny that with their starters in they really showed why they are the champions of Spain and are in the CL final.
I think Modric was really weaving and stuff, but none of their starters really had standout performances. I'd even say Vinicius was kinda just out and about.
Welp, we lose, but we didn't get injuries and Karim didn't play. It's obvious that we don't care much about the remaining league matches, with this said, Jovic and Asensio should go out of this club the second the transfer market opens
[Cost us the entire first half today IMO.](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/ul9gdv/-/i7uiq5e) I can't claim to know what's actually in his head and perhaps I'm wrong but Jovic just doesn't seem to have any drive whatsoever.
I wanted to see hazard play :(
He’s out for the rest of the season
Useless cunts. The one time I wanted Real to win
With many kisses from Madrid

To be fair, barcelona rested before their 2nd leg against you
To be fair, we're no Barcelona.
Yeah you just get beat 4-0 by them
And?
Haven't seen the game, how was Camavinga ?

On the ball, yes he needs to improve a lot more but I doubt it'll happen at this stage of his career. He gets caught in possession so much
ez clap
Like winning laliga Oh wait
Like winning the PL, oh wait.
Like winning the UCL semis in 2019 oh wait
Atleast they gotta chance to win something this season
I know it's tough competing with Benzema, but it looks like Jovic just flat out stopped giving a shit about even challenging for a roster spot for Real at this point.
Just like the current mingueza.
The guy plays with zero emotion
Well he wasn't supposed to be starting until like 15 minutes before the match started and Diaz picked up an injury during training..
Not during training. He was carrying it, was cleared but felt discomfort before the start. At least that's what Ancelotti said.
I'd rather we replace him with chicharito honestly.
How much would it cost for someone to sign Jovic ?
I would guess 25-30M, probably the lower end.
absolute legend
i dont watch la liga often and i thought he was just having a bad day. is he actually that bad?
He's absolutely useless as a 9 for us. Doesn't help that our 9 has to be very active and mobile since we don't play with an attacking central midfielder. You can see he has quality, but just not for us and not with our system. He needs to go play for a team who plays 2 strikers.

At current for Jovic makes Icardi look like the best player on the planet

For sure a worthy adversary.
Same. Best player on the field sometimes for atleti. They don't put enough respect on his name

Flair up
No injuries vamosss
I'm still wondering who can score clean chance in the team expect Suarez. They either send it to space or clean it for goal kick
No injuries, that's the most important thing. Hala Madrid, bar the UCL final
Simeone shaking Ancelottis hand is the guard of honor the media cried about so much 🤝
That happened, wtf?
Yessir it did
Wow. Yeah, Grim Reaper Simeone not doing the dash is genuinely worth more than any Guard of Honor Atletico can give Madrid. That's nice to hear :)
No injuries is a win in my book
Is it because you’re playing atletico, or because you have a CL final to win?
Yes.
Both lmao
Forza Liverpool
Well this is a weird flair/comment combo but alright!
Enemy of my enemy is my friend.
"Thibo CL champion with Madrid" not gonna be how you wanted it.
Come on you Betis!
92:48
Juanfran
mate, just focus on your team if you dont want to face cr7 again next season.
They’re 6 points ahead of Betis….
sure, but they still have to play seville and real sociedad, they are close but not done.
They did just fine vs Ronaldo this year
His joke is about them dropping to Europa. Betis blew it really.
Yeah, but that wasnt the point haha, if cr7 stays on united he is not playing champions.
How was Lunin doing?
One thing I noticed is he's very comfortable on the ball.
He made a couple good saves, didnt notice any errors from him
Pretty good actually
ok, I didn´ t watch the match or even heard about it but let me guess, Madrid came out without their good players and Atlético still kind of struggled to score 1 goal
Atletico was good. I'd even say great but it's Madrid's almost B team, so I thought good would be fair. They missed chances too btw. It wasn't like they were struggling to create
ok, so it was a bit better than I expected it to be
most honest review
They scored from a bullshit penalty
No, it was a clear penalty
Many chances still can't score. Too many miss and post hitting

Great game by atletico.. score line doesn’t do justice to how well they played
We desperately need a striker
Go build you defense first :P
...don't you have Carrasco, Griezmann, Joao, Correa, Cunha and Suárez?
Literally one of them players is a striker and he’s in his 30’s and runs like he’s 50
ironic considering how many striker type of players you’ve signed and how few defenders
I really wanted Jovic to finally get his form, but the man just looks off whenever he plays
judge him by his 4th season
He has so much promise just like that other kid….Theo Walcott?
Jesse Lingard
All the B team replies coming when the only key player that hasnt played for Real was Benzema.
Courtois, Carvajal, Alaba, Nacho as LB, no KCM on the same time on the field, Asensio playing 90 minutes. And most of all: Jovic actually playing 60 minutes.
Well last night Real Madrid first team was worth 218m and Atleti's 135m
Courtois, Carvajal, Alaba, Nacho as LB, no KCM on the same time on the field, Asensio playing 90 minutes. And most of all: Jovic actually playing 60 minutes. (I decided to just repeat my post because your reply obviously completely missed the point)
Doesn't change the fact that even the tram without them starting has market value more than 50% bigger.
> All the B team replies coming when the only key player that hasnt played for Real was Benzema. This was your post. It has nothing to with market values or anything. (Btw those are completely imaginary numbers anyway)
Go touch same grass dude, like u are just waiting for me to comment.
I would be more worried about your teams inability to score from open play, against that make shift defense, instead of pretending we cared about anything from this game other than no injuries
Nothing new then. We started score many goal cuz Suarez
Lunin, Vallejo, Jovic, Camavinga, Vazquez, Asensio are not starters. Be fair.
Asensio has started often in La Liga
He is far from being amongst Madrid's best 11 players. Probably not even in the top 15
He’s the third best winger they have lol
We only have 3 wingers dude. Bale and Hazard work in the hospitals. Carlo will rather play a midfielder, Valverde on the wings over Asensio
I mean that's not really hard considering there's 5 wingers and 2 of them are barely football players.
Absolutely but it’s not like Asensio (cama and Vasquez) belong in the same category as Vallejo, alunni and Jovic. Formers are much more used
Considering that Valverde has been starting as RW in the most important games I highly doubt that. And again: He is not amongst Madrid's best 11 players, and probably not even top 15.
We desperately need a backup striker, where and who, I have no clue, but Jovic and Mariano are not it
We got so many wasted spots smh Imagine Jovic, Bale and Hazard performing remotely close to what you should expect from them. This team would be scary.

You can always call Mayoral back, isn't he permanently on loan somewhere?
It's probably going to be Mayoral
If the turtle comes that's enough cuz he can play striker in case Benzema is out.
Lmao Mbappe isn't a sub player wtf I have no clue how Madrid are gonna satisfy Vini, Mbappe, Benzema and Rodrygo. Also hazard but ig he's given up
What part of "in case Benzema is out" don't you get ? He can play striker and someone else can play on the wing. Currently we have no such player.
By "in case Benzema is out" did you mean out injured or out of the club? I assumed injured and then didn't you imply Mbappe be a sub?
injured/suspended, etc "sub" means substitute, not necessarily bench player
Honestly, I think Raul de Tomas would be a decent backup striker for Madrid. Could be kind of a Nacho, Lucas vasques type of player but as a 9.
Mbappe can play striker also
deep bench
I think Mariano deserves a real shot honestly.
This is the time when I really need to see a flair.
Haha maybe I could go with Lyon
Bale
Ronaldo to come back 🤞
Ronaldo 👀
We got scammed with Jovic and the Bundesliga tax
He looked just as shit during his loan back at Frankfurt. Still believe that he can have a decent career but Real is obviously no fit.
Europa League tax too I guess
Wait till you see what Reinier offers

has he ever started a match in germany? what is he doing in training lmao
I think he started against Bayern becuz of injuries tho

That was [solely on Jovic and Asensio IMO.](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/ul9gdv/-/i7uiq5e)
I was in-between matches, and from what I saw today, Asensio was such a non-presence upfront that I swore you guys were playing a 4-4-2.
Madrid's B team held of City for 20 minutes This match was very pointless. No desire to win
I know half of Madrid's fans aren't Spanish, but I'd be pissed if my team gave up on a derby just because they wanna rest for a game 20 days away.
I ain't mad, it was a well deserved Vibing game. Who cares. i am just happy our players are resting after giving their heart out just few days ago.
I promise you, no real Madrid fans anywhere is mad. They aren't resting for a game 20 days from now. They got rested from a match they played a few days ago. The team also just trained yesterday. After that amazing comeback they deserved some slack.
Okay, and they lost to a team with donkeys for strikers so I guess it all works out for everyone.
I guarantee it if Carlo didn’t rotate half the squad peoole will be 10 times more pissed off.
I think they were resting from Wednesday game not for the CL final. I would be pissed too but you can still banter them for it
It’s not just rest.. an important player can get injured and be out for such an important game

You're literally bitching about a guy celebrating his team's win. Grow up.
>Man celebrates a win against their local rivals
To this day I think that saying shit like this is the biggest cancer you can read from football fans. Simeone just won one of the 2 biggest derbies in Spain and whats even more important, greatly increased chances for qualifying to UCL.
He won against a rival, of course he would celebrate
Considering his professional (horrible season) and personal life (father died) have been in pretty serious strain for the past month, I'm sure winning meant more because of the reprieve of pressure than it did the pure football aspect.
Good burn, dude. You tell’em how, when and what to celebrate.

Fans being salty over other teams celebrating will always be funny to me
Needing a soft penalty to win against this Real Madrid 'B' team just shows how shit Atletico is lol.
I'd very much rather say that it shows how great our B team is.
They had some great chances. It wasn't like the penalty was the only thing that happened infront of Lunin.
It mostly just shows how shit your bench players are, our team is so bad I expect to drop points to relegation fodder.
Our bench players were the reason we won against city. What are you on
We've sucked a lot harder against teams much worse. I think you overestimate how much Atleti fans expect from this team, the fact that we didn't get our ass handed yet is a W in itself lmao.
We haven't scored from open play in 6 games,we know we're shit buddy
I was impressed on how many wasted opportunities you had
Grizemann hasn't scored a league goal since November
I mean... didn't he spend 2 months injured or something like that?
Its been 6 months since November..
at least he’s influential in the games
Worse than Rashford…and that’s really saying something (Worse goals tally, overall play better)
Thanks for the training session Atletico
thanks for helping us grab 3 points in these needy times and ensuring we dont sell Oblak/Felix/Llorente at summer due to missing out top4. good guy Real helps his besties 🫶
i think this is a deserved win for us. our finishing is so bad and man, even though i strongly dislike Madrid, i can’t deny that with their starters in they really showed why they are the champions of Spain and are in the CL final.
I also have a dream of the day kroos leaves our club he doesn’t offer much and starts every major game we have.
Kondogbia was everywhere
he was amazing, Atletico fans will know more, but he's been class every time I watch him with them
Real Madrid's elite mentality making Atletico miss all the sitters they created.
lol
What's up the Simeone's celebration? Would've thought he was 2 seconds away from winning the league if I didn't know any better
Cuz he’s still fighting for a spot in next years UCL, the 3 points were important.
