I need to fucking brag about that one. I think I got 31 in a row
For the first time in my life maths is kicking my ass. Worst part is I learned half of this shit like 3 years ago and I was good at it then. Atleast it's my first solid piece of evidence that I'm not getting dumber and that online school is just tough for me
Have you heard of our Lord and Saviour, Wolfram Alpha?
Nope, is it like photomath but better?
You can plug in math equations and it'll give you the answer, if you pay for the premium you can even get a step by step.
Got me through chemistry, calculus, physics, and probably a few others
I think I genuinely forgot how to study
Do 1 hour shifts. Studying for hours at a time is very hard
I got an entire degree by doing all my work in the first half of football manager matches
Been a bad week for the diet and working out. Was sick at the start of the week so could really work out in the evening but went running with the gaa club twice. Rake of beer and another few today so have to get back at it on Monday.
Please tell me you play Hurling. Did a rugby tour over in Ireland when I was in high school and we got to go to a match. Wicked sport
I played all my life before I immigrated. Just gonna go back playing football here for the summer. There’s way less hurling clubs and I don’t have time for both really.
Man when I moved to Canada I remember my 12th grade gym teacher got us to play Gaelic Football and got pissed off at us not knowing the rules.
Like Ive watched it and I still don't know the fucking rules
I know you probably mean regular football but that anecdotes never going to be semi relevant anywhere else
How the fuck would kids in Canada know the rules?
It ended up with some dribbling basketball style, some football style, and one kid doing Aussie Rules it was hilarious
Would you rather be able to only eat chicken or beef for the rest of your life and give up the other?
I've given up both so...
Well then would you give up avocado or beans?
That's pretty tough. There's so many types of beans and they're a much bigger part of my diet, but avocadoes are so good.
I guess I'll say avocadoes so at least that way I'm not supporting the drug cartels.
Beef easily. Chicken is decent, but nowhere near as good as beef.
Everyone else said chicken. You're unhinged man.
Do eggs count as chicken?
If they do then chicken, if not then beef. Idk if cow eggs are breakfast material
Chicken makes way more sense but never having a burger or beef stir fry again is terribly sad.
Chicken all day
Chicken. Much more versatile. Fried chicken sandwiches > burgers. Butter chicken > any beef dish
Chicken. Can do a lot more with it.
Beef tastes better imo but chicken is more versatile
Chicken, for the environment
The Sixth Station from Spirited Away is genuinely the most beautiful piece of music ever written. I don't understand how someone could conceive of something like that
I always like Bygone Days from Porco Rosso and Merry go round of life from Howls Moving Castle more. But yea, Joe Hisaishi is a genius.
How do you study for exams that aren’t multiple choice?
I study law in Germany. Most of my exams are assessing a case and writing a brief for it. So that’s what I do, I pull up a fictional case, assess it, write a brief and then I pull up the corrector’s notes and look where I fucked up. Rinse and repeat every day until the exam.
Same here except in Norway precedence from courts are about as important as the law, so a fair bit of work goes into sorting out the correct supreme court decisions.
But for the most part its just doing what you said.
Wait, do you folks have common law up there?
Well our legal system is interesting in that its a sort of mixed system. We are definitely more on the civil law side, but theres a difference in that our supreme court rulings set precedence and are of vital importance when interpreting the law. Its not common law because while the supreme court rulings are heavily used in arguments, they aren't legally binding for the supreme court themselves (they are legally binding for the lower courts). Its a messed up system to explain but basically our supreme court can act as lawmakers (indirectly) because they interpret the law, and whenever theres a loophole in the law, they sort of fill that gap and then their interpretation of the situation becomes the prevailing legal opinion, until our parliament passes an act.
We actually had a course about German legal culture and I have to admit to me it I have never been more confused in my life. Because if I remember correctly you have multiple different courts and supreme courts and federal courts and constitutional courts.
Wow, that does sound super interesting, but ridiculously confusing! Thanks for taking the time to explain :)
Yeah, we have multiple different courts, going from Amtsgericht (like the lowest of courts) to Landgericht, to Oberlandesgericht (all previous are state courts) to Bundesgericht (federal court). We also have a Bundesverfassungsgericht, but that’s not part of the normal hierarchy. It is the highest court, but it can’t rule on any case, but has to make general rulings, not case specific.
A case that began at an Amtsgericht can reach the Oberlandesgericht at a maximum, while a case that first gets heard at a Landgericht may reach the Bundesgericht through appeals. Where they begin is determined by the value of the dispute or the severity of the crime.
There’s a separate court hierarchy for labour law, going from Arbeitsgericht to Landesarbeitsgericht to Bundesarbeitsgericht, and yet another separate court hierarchy for administrative law, going from Verwaltungsgericht to Oberverwaltungsgericht to Bundesverwaltungsgericht. There are two more separate hierarchies, one for social law and one for financial law.
Funnily, none of these courts set a precedent. None. While leaning on a previous decision in an argument can carry some weight, that’s not a precedent.
I usually don’t too but Operating Systems is biting my butt. A lot of terminology and Code I have to not only memorize but describe.
If it’s a math subject I would do practice problems about the subject we learned. Honestly, most of my University exams were not multiple choice so I actually had to sit down and either do practice problems and/or learn theory.
Redo the homework without using my notes and then track down people who have previously done the course and redo their tests
I take notes of all the source material
Do u have a method of memorizing key details and terms?
Flash cards my man.
If you are a physical rememberer you can even do certain topics in specific colours
Good question, well usually, I write down everything I need to know on a paper, and then I memorize everything word for word. After than I have a clear picture in my head of the things I studied
What’s the subject?
OS, had a lot of terminology and Code.
Edit: I’m a computer science major
I take my notes and per topic I look at all the ways they could ask a question to test whether I have a good grasp on the material or not.
After I have these hypothetical questions, I write my answers to every question w/ the right answer (obviously including everything I need to make sure I can’t lose points). I repeat that for every part of my notes.
For terminology, i’d do flashcards. Quizlet is great
Do you enjoy the computer science course? I’m hopefully starting mine in October. I’m terrible at maths so will probably struggle there, have you struggled much overall with the course?
It doesn’t really have much math, at least where I attend. But it’s one of the harder courses I’ve taken. There’s a lot of terminology and the projects can be pretty hard since our professors doesn’t really cover the programming aspect in class. But it’s pretty interesting as we go in depth as to the doings of an operating system.
Ffs, I was going to play Elden Ring for the first time in over a week, but theres an update I need to install.....
Worst! Especially when you’ve *just* installed it and it says finished, then hits you with an update.
[Mods pinning their own jokes ](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/tgyxsc/uefa_uefa_champions_league_quarterfinal_semifinal/i1538wi) because they know no one would care otherwise is so cringe lmao feels like I'm seeing it more on reddit these days
Annie is the best Chelsea supporter on here by an absolutely massive margin and also a good mod.
The joke was still cringe
That mod is chill though.

Did two jobinterviews this week, both of which went really well - got a call for the second round of interviews from one of them and the second, I got props for interviewing well, though they were looking for someone with a different background.
All in all a solid experience for my first times properly interviewing anywhere.
Been enjoying this song today, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=at4nccAUGbs
Take care of yourselves and have a good weekend, everyone!
Nice one, always feels good to nail an interview. Best of luck!
[Bloody hell.](https://twitter.com/SimonRex/status/1504854594710487040?t=qaURdm3h-C9BPywuAHznNw&s=19) And the tabloids have the nerve to wonder why Markle doesn't like them.
This is why I stick up for her and Harry. I don’t give a fuck about the royals, and yes they’re super rich and privileged.
But god damn to the tabloids go out of their way to duck them over - no amount of money would make that worth it for me.
Fellas, check [the Ukraine Humble Bundle](https://www.humblebundle.com/stand-with-ukraine-bundle). 👀
I think it's the best value bundle ever.
I've never bought a humble bundle before- am I right in that I get 123 items for $60 nz dollars? That's crazy
~~Yeah but it's $40 tho. The other are just if you want to give extra.~~
oh nvm nz dollars im dumb
Thanks for the link mate, few games I'm keen on trying that I wouldn't have bought individually and it's for a great cause too
I clutched this exam so hard. I can’t believe it
I finished a run of night shifts this morning, bed by about noon, had a couple of hours kip, and had already committed to doing a big shopping trip with my mum and sister at the massive local shopping centre known locally as "Meadowhall", tomorrow...
My sister is a serious shopper. She once spent 90 minutes in a Primark. I'm going to die.
I always hated shopping as a kid like when forced to go with my mum and stood there awkwardly for a few hours in a TK maxx but as I've got older I've started to enjoy it IF with the right company.
Often play a higher or lower/ guess the price game type thing in those ridiculously expensive shops or just look at stuff.
Although I guess when you've actually got a list to shop for and a lot to do that's a lot more dull and annoying than when you're just for fun.
Anyways good luck - sounds like you need it
Yeah it's pre-holiday shopping, so we very much have a "mission".
I have a list of shops to hit and I'm going to be firm with my sister or we'll be there all weekend
Anyone else flush their toilet with their foot while they're washing their hands or is it just me?
Wait how are your toilets designed so that you can flush with your feet?
You press down on the flush handle with your foot
Yeah but isn't the handle usually on top of the flushing tank, and the sink maybe not in range? In the toilets I know this would require some serious acrobatics if it's even physically possible.
Its one of them small toilets so everything is close by so not that hard to reach - gotta stretch and extend the leg but its nothing uncomfortable
While washing my hands no , but public restrooms I always flush with my feet
I assume that would be shoes in that case rather than bare feet?
Lol yes with shoes on
I do a lot of picking things up with my toes
Socks and shirts are actually very easy to grab with your feet
Just you but it's actually an interesting time saver. Gotta test it
Man I want to get excited about the Harry Potter game. I know 12 year old me would have died in excitement at such a game. But the recent worse than usual Rowling tweets are all I can think about when I see anything about this game. Fucking TERFs
Isn’t the plot about a goblin rebellion too that doesn’t leave me optimistic given how the books portrayed goblins antisemitically
I'm just gunna pirate it. Fuck giving her money
Chicago's architecture is beautiful.
The Shoreline Sightseeing Architecture River Tour is a highly recommended experience.
I love chicago. Such an underrated city
r/Iraq is such a cesspool. Anything other than constant Iran bashing gets you banned apparently. Seems like all national subreddits are complete shit though.
Isn’t there a strong prop Iran section fo the population in Iraq or is that a myth? If it is the case I assume it’s similar to a lot of national subreddits in that they essentially represent one particular segment of the country. All the UK subreddits are very much like that
>Isn’t there a strong prop Iran section fo the population in Iraq or is that a myth?
Yeah there definitely is, especially in the shia Muslim population (who are the majority in Iraq). The thing is, both countries are always going to be close because of that connection and Iran also helped alot with the fight against ISIS. They have a strong incentive to keep anti-shia terrorist groups out of Iraq because we share a massive border.
We have a big problem of both the US and Iran fighting over control of our affairs and our government is completely ineffective and corrupt. Personally, I just want Iraq to stand on its own feet and control our own progress, so I'm not pro-iran or pro-USA. I'm pro-Iraq, simple as that.
The r/Iraq sub is heavily pro-USA which would be a rather fringe opinion in Iraq in my experience and the biggest anti-Iran people are generally baathists who miss the days of Saddam.
This is really informative thank you for the reply. Are baathists all sunnis or are some shiites baathists as well?
Iraqi Baathists and saddamists are generally secular or sunni. Shiites were very oppressed and killed in large numbers under Saddam's baathist rule, so Shiites don't want baathism to return in Iraq in any capacity.
It's kind of the way niche communities go - tough line to walk to keep a diversity of opinions going without the place becoming a massive shitheap of infighting, and tough to keep places from becoming echochambers and circlejerks.
Want to point out that the Americans are complaining about how expensive their gas is but I'm driving over there every week because filling up my 45L tank in Washington is $20 Canadian cheaper than filling it up in British Columbia
Your premium is cheaper than our regular
As someone who walks everywhere (or occasionally takes the train) I can't help but feel happy that this sort of stuff doesn't affect me - like the prices are ridiculously high but it just doesn't matter coz I'm never gonna buy it.
Would be ideal but I'm in a trade so my car is vital for my income
Still, at least my company increased the kilometer expenses to counteract the gas prices
As Europeans it’s hilarious. Their current prices are what ours were back in the 1990s. It’s now about double and that’s just to the overinflated California prices.
Thought you might have a reason lol
Oh man when FMs good to you is it ever good to you
Was a nothing midtable team for the first half of the season, best defence in the league by miles but not scoring enough to make anything out of it.
West Ham let me load a lad called Ruben Shakpoke who started off slow but caught fire from February onwards. We rise up the table until the final day where we are two points, and three places away from the playoffs. Shakpoke scores a fucking hat trick, and somehow every other result goes our way. We squeak the playoffs on goal difference, which meant all three of Shakpokes goals mattered.
He then scores both goals in our aggregate win over Blackburn in the first round, and does it again in the final over Luton. This man single handedly drags us kicking and screaming into the promised land, and then doesn't make our team of the season lol.
If this lads real I genuinely might have to buy his kit.
[Here's some pictures of our triumph and a bonus of ManUFC somehow getting themselves relegated](https://imgur.com/a/1sHyvts)
Real but plays for Villa looks like.
If he makes a first team debut I reckon I'll have to do it
Watching True Detective s1 currently, and it is really good. But I haven't heard good things about season 2.
haven't watched season 2 but season 3 is good as well
Hogwarts Legacy looks very very promising. Very impressed with what I’ve seen so far.
My building manager has told me mailmen are too lazy to reach our building since my neighbourhood is under huge renovation and can't find spots to park. It annoys him too but not that much since we have many shops around who can be used as address to deliver our articles.
Christ, after only playing acoustic for years the switch to an electric guitar is more complicated than i thought it would be
Amount of times i dropped my pick man, I'm this close to just going full Mark Knopfler and calling it a day
>I'm this close to just going full Mark Knopfler and calling it a day
It's what it is now
Considering getting an iPad Air, anything I should be aware of, good or bad ? Kinda pumped about it but the price is quite steep, especially for a 3rd world country, so I'd wanna make sure it's worth the dough
Get a refurbished iPad pro
Bangladesh won the first ODI against South Africa. Big win for them away from home.
Was a pretty good win too - margin was brought down a bit by that last wicket partnership but Bangladesh were always ahead of the game in the 2nd innings and looking likely to win barring some Miller magic or something.
Excited to see what happens on the pink day ODI on Sunday
The Saffers always turn up for the Pink Day ODI's haha. Would be an interesting watch.
State of this... [individually wrapped plastic cup](https://imgur.com/a/YYsRWRe) from my hotel room
Complete with twice the amount of packaging than you'd need to cover it
I'm not saying it's right but the extra part of the packaging is so they can be stacked.
Hang this in The Louvre.
Lovely picture, great shot composition.
I really appreciate what you’ve done there
Warm, bright Spring and Summer days make me feel like doing stuff, having fun outside, or improving myself. Dark winter days make me feel like I'm perpetually waiting for the day to start.
I'm not gonna lie fellas, I
OH GOD WHAT IS IT????
RIP Marky dibs on their stuff
Spent far too many hours of my childhood playing Airmech, a MOBA RTS indie game.
Here's some gameplay if any of you are interested, I'm actually playing in this match: https://youtu.be/jXLb3GdlM34
I love civ so much. Such an addicting game.
It’s cyclical as shit isn’t it, forget for three months then play for 36 hours straight every couple of days
I love Kpop
Then you're gonna love BTSlona
Better than Fly Emirates tbh
Stray kids is where it is at tho, been listening since I watched Tower of god
i just started playing a couple weeks ago, it's only thing i've been playing
Just downloaded this yesterday and started playing. Really enjoying it so far, lots to get the hang of!
the game is so complicated but once you know all the mechanics you can truly enjoy the empire building aspect of it
what version did you get? I've only played 5 and 6
I got 6 as it was reduced on Epic's website.
I only played around with it a little bit yesterday afternoon and got into a few scraps with barbarians. I can see it being really absorbing but so difficult to keep track of after a while.
yeah true, barbarians are my least fav part tbh. The medieval/renaissance is my favourite part of the game, where conflict with other civs pick up.
has anyone moved to the UK for work? how much was the visa? from what I see it's around 2.5k pounds for a 3 year visa which I find absolutely insane
It's not at all uncommon for employers to pay the visa fee, in my experience
employer said from the beginning they can sponsor the visa but not pay the fees. I've gotten visas for other countries and they were 200 euro tops so I thought ok no biggie, until I accepted the offer and went to see the actual price...
About to have the best sales month of my career.
September/October 2021 I was depressed as fuck and hadn't sold anything in several months, was into my overdraft and felt hopeless, I'm about to make enough in March alone to put a solid deposit down on a house.
Sales is hugely emotionally taxing but if you're fairly good at it and you can handle periods of being poor its so worth it.
Absolute baller move. I work in recruitment which is similar (agency side especially so) and smashing your targets and getting a fat cheque is amazing. Just recently moved in house though, gonna be interesting to see the transition.
Lad recruiters are some of the wildest people I know.
Being in house seems a lot more stable and a lot more rewarding long term, you can help shape the company and shit, you'll develop a load of different skills as well. Good move IMO.
I’ve been told I’m attractive/handsome more in the last two weeks when I’m 70 pounds heavier than when I was 70 pounds lighter last year. Idk how to explain that and it’s a mindfuck to me.
Nothing hotter than self confidence!
If anything i feel my confidence is lower given my weight is 70 pounds up and most of clothes fit tight.
Have around 40 hours on Elden Ring, I still don’t know if I’m good at it or not.
Just summon the jellyfish for emotional support
I clocked thousands of hours on the first three Dark Souls games and they still managed to convince me, with frightening regularity, that I was awful.
welcome to souls games
Seven cheese? The most I can order from a menu of the pizza joints where I live is a 4 cheese. Regarding your question, cheese all the way.
There's one cheese of the 7 I hate, dont know which it is. I guess gouda?
So its always margherita for me
What are the 7 cheeses?
margherita, but my favorite is always diavola
plain margherita, personally
I miss Spike from Buffy
Now that's a childhood crush throwback
Don't make butter chicken kids. It guarantees mouthgasms and over-eating
butter chicken curry is god
I can't fucking move from how much I ate
Got a recipe, big dog?
[No recipe, just this](https://i.imgur.com/vT48qgK.jpg)
LOS SIMULADORES ARE COMING BACK OH MY GOD
literally the one thing that's gonna get me to sign up to Paramount Plus
Oh be still my beating heart
HOLY FUCKING SHIT REALLY??

Jesus christ the ending of Normal People was absolutely heartbreaking.
How can they just end the show like that...
It was such a cliche lol I had to laugh more than anything
I keep getting added to committees and workgroups at work and I hate it.
Just finished watching "Person of Interest" for the first time. Something that started off as a procedural with a new case every episode ending on some damn good discussion about AI, while maintaining enough drama to make it click with a wider audience, I'm not sure why this wasn't as popular as I feel it should've been. Thoughts?
Agree top show for me. Used to be on Netflix but got removed in the U.K. so it’s hard to find. Now on Amazon prime with adverts
One of the episodes to the end where >!Root dies and the Machine takes her voice and Finch goes to war!< so good.
I watched *Person of Interest* when it first came out. I was in middle school and to this day this show is still awesome.
My favourite TV show ever. The episode about the >!NSA agent whistleblowing!< was just eerily spot-on. The ep >!after Carter's death !
early 10s: Vine, 9GAG, Obama, posting food on Instagram, Lana del Rey, Justin Bieber, Battlefield 3, HTC phones, Windows 7, Facebook, Playstation 3, Pep's Barca, Interstellar, rage comics
late 10s: Tik Tok, Reddit, Trump, posting selfies on Instagram, Billie Eilish, Drake, Fortnite, Xiaomi phones,Windows 10, Snapchat, Playstation 4, Pep's City, Avengers Endgame, surreal memes
which one do you prefer?
Lana Del Rey is timeless
Early 10s because I'm old
Let me start this off by saying I’m not a vegan myself but I’m very pro-veganism. I think food can be amazing without any animal products used. But yesterday it went too far. I went out for dinner with my girlfriends family (mostly vegans) to an little veggie restaurant in my town (I live in a big Swedish city so there’s loads of them). But this place had a special on and this special now lives in my head rent free and just annoys the shit out of me.
It was a vegan carbonara. A fucking *vegan* carbonara.
I’m not Italian but even I know a carbonara is made of 4 ingredients. None of which are vegan.
* Egg yolks - not vegan obviously
* Spaghetti - not vegan (see above)
* Parmesan/Pecorino - not even vegetarian
* Pork- it’s a fucking pig ffs.
Like how can you have the audacity to call something a carbonara and then replace literally every single ingredient in it. Unless you want a plate of black pepper then you’re not having a vegan carbonara. Get fucked Swedish vegan restaurant. You make me sick.
The Ship of Theseus: Swedish Edition.
Oh no are you okay
Absolutely furious. Not sure how life can go on.
Wait, the best carbonara in the world uses dried pasta so how is pasta not vegan?
well if you were making a vegan pasta dish with the intention to imitate carbonara as best as you can, what would be a better name than 'vegan carbonara'?
I'd just change the word
Like a veganara or something
It's literally that one philosophical question whose name escapes me.
If you take carbonara and replace every single ingredient, is it still carbonara?
Ship of Theseus
But you can’t substitute egg yolks which are the main ingredient in a carbonara. It’s just not a carbonara without them and it’s just a grabby name. It’s like ordering a vegan ham sandwich and getting two pieces of bread.
Easy - pasta without egg, vegan 'dairy', meat substitute.
Not a 'real' carbonara, but like...couldn't people have guessed? I don't know how much Italians care about authentic use of their words. We have been butchering their food for centuries, vegan versions is just one more step.
The real question is if vegan dairy is any good...
> Not a ‘real’ carbonate, but like…couldn’t people have guessed?
This is my point. Don’t call it a carbonara if it isn’t a carbonara. Just call it creamy vegan pasta.
> The real question is if vegan dairy is any good…
Vegan dairy is decent to be fair, Oatly has now fully replaced cows milk for me and there’s no going back. The only problem is vegan cheese is a bit of a war crime. There’s just nothing that can replicate it and taste the same.
I'm gonna try some expensive cashew nut cheese, I'm not expecting a dairy taste but hopefully something good.
