why is the favorite pastime of football twitter to assert confidently that xyz journalist is biased against their favorite coach/player/club.
relatedly, what's the deal with the weirdos under every fab tweet, especially the "comedians" who reply to themselves as such:
@ EgyptianKingSalah37: Man Utd News?
@ EgyptianKingSalah37: Finished club
Thanks mate! I've not needed them in years but they're not the greatest to come off and with all the lockdowns and stop start nature of life at the moment it's been something I've put off until recently.
On Sunday my dad messaged me genuinely fuming because he'd been watching Sky Sports and "Gary Neville is so biased, he was talking about how Man City and Liverpool are a cut above Chelsea - completely ignoring we are European champions!!"
... Because they are, dad. He's 65 years old but his reactions are fresh off of Football Twitter. He listens to TalkSport as well, and believes every tabloid transfer rumour. I'll get texts regularly like "Just seen the Mirror are reporting Mbappe to Chelsea, great news!!"
I love him to bits, but bless him I'd downvote him all the time if he was on Reddit
He loved watching Pedri get the golden boy award and is excited to watch the team play. Also it's good for his blood pressure that Koeman isn't on the sidelines anymore lol
> I love him to bits, but bless him I'd downvote him all the time if he was on Reddit
Ahaha
I think everyone has someone like that in their family tbf. You just have to put up with them and smile and nod your head. I pretty much have the same opinions as my old man on most things so I'd be showering him with gold and praising him for his supreme ball knowledge at every opportunity.
For all the Man City Anfield curse stuff, it turns out Liverpool have failed to win their last 4 games at the Etihad, scoring only twice
That game will be a major decider this season
I am so ready for it to be laced with controversy and drama. I want dodgy offside calls, VAR-overturned penalties, red cards, Pep and Klopp sent to the stands, the PGMOL issuing an official apology after the game... and maybe some football in amongst that
How about an Alexander-Arnold handball exactly the same as Rodri’s which doesn’t go to VAR in the last few minutes
The reaction would be utterly hilarious
> How about an Alexander-Arnold handball exactly the same as Rodri’s which doesn’t go to VAR in the last few minutes
If you want REAL drama then you have VAR give it.
> Seems like best way to get upvotes on the DD is to just have a Liverpool flair. Doesn’t matter what horrid take you have
Cowardly post. Call out the bad takes like a real man.
Do you really care about getting upvotes on the DDT, though? Consensus here is incredibly dynamic and volatile anyway. Depends on time of day, results on that day, and current popular naratives. Some days Liverpool will be getting universally shat on, other days their fans might be here in swathes and their fans comments will therefore be well received. Insert any other club with a big fanbase for the same effect.
People don't understand how this sub works- if I come in here after a Chelsea win and talk shite about Chelsea I'm going to get downvoted, no matter how legitimate my comment is. Same goes for any of the big clubs.
Mo Salah has 5 non-penalty goals in 16 appearances this calendar year. Thought he was leading the ballon d'Or race.
Liverpool fans here have fooled me again...
But he is leading the PFA POTY and Golden Boot race. Although I am prepared for the POTY to go to De Bruyne again after being mostly invisible for a season again.
When I say good PR I mean people rating you high even after a bad patches of performances, because they know the quality is there. PR like Ronaldo, Messi, Salah, Lewy, and such.
The players you have named are underrated if anything. Especially sterling.
> De bruyne would be more deserving than Salah tbf.
This is some serious recency bias- De Bruyne did not have a good start to the season and has now found some good form while Salah has been poor the last few games.
Salah is not only the top goal scorer in the league but he also has the most assists too. If any City player was doing that you best believe you'd be saying they should absolutely be POTY and we both know it.
Um no. De Bruyne has not started playing until January and in most of the games he has been poor. He would only win it based on reputation and winning the league (like last year). Salah's last couple games have been poor, but he has over the season been the best player in the league (and arguably the world).
I like making lists so here are my Top Five Worst Kits.
*Now, bear in mind that I actually quite like some colour clashes and purposely weird kits so some of the usual offenders might get a pass.*
1. [Stoke](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bxbp9nYIcAAZOGG?format=png&name=small) You know you're irrelevant when you have to put your name in a big ugly font on the front of your disgusting shirt.
2. [Hull](https://a.espncdn.com/photo/2020/0722/r722220_864x1296_2-3.jpg) No list of bad shirts makes the list without this being included and for good reason.
3. [Fiorentina](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BzxlM8kCEAAI9gr?format=jpg&name=small) Swastika like patterns, multiple shades of purple, awful collar and a terrible cut. Also this pic make Batistuta look like an overgrown dwarf.
4. [La Hoya Lorca](https://a.espncdn.com/photo/2020/0723/r722687_864x1296_2-3.jpg) This also makes it into the best of list too
5. [Colorado Cairbous](https://a.espncdn.com/photo/2020/0608/r706312_2_1296x864_3-2.jpg) Americans putting faux leather tassels on a football shirt showed they were not ready to embrace football. This level of negative ball knowledge set them back years and I don't think they ever truly recovered.
The Stoke one is a bit like cricket kits haha. I also love that Fiorentina one, that picture of Batistuta is kinda iconic haha. They also had kits with Nintendo as sponsor.
[How do you rate this, one of the most infamous Chelsea shirts of all time?](https://chelsearewindhome.files.wordpress.com/2019/08/img_1850-1.jpg)
It was universally panned at the time, but has now acquired a cult status amongst Chelsea fans. I rate it tbh.
Liverpool had some shockers in the mid 2010s. [This was a horror show](http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ed9iA9TBBEw/Ua20GFcLgFI/AAAAAAAAHMU/10FgBLI6hwI/s483/Liverpool+Away+Kit+Warrior.jpg).
I don't hate the Chelsea kit tbh- I think those colours actually look good together and the pattern, while dated, was not completely out of the blue back then.
The Liverpool one is horrendous (but not even the worst Warrior Liverpool kit) but it's so odd (who came up with that design?!) that I kind of appreciate it.
[Basically every Warrior Liverpool away kit](https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JOYnN11EphU/XZyNd-OEAwI/AAAAAAACHTg/yE1p5QjwWvcEunYGGAqNgxkgxESfusbCACNcBGAsYHQ/s1600/liverpool-warrior-history%2B%25281%2529.jpg)
They were amazingly bad. That one on the right also had some weird tribal like patterns on the arm if I remember correctly. But I've always actually liked horrendous third kits and I think it should be a requirement to make the most outrageous one you can.
[Bilbao - This one is brutal](https://www.footballkitarchive.com/athletic-club-2004-05-special-kit/)
[Stade Rennais - This is the worst of the awful Puma kits that came out](https://www.footballkitarchive.com/stade-rennais-2021-22-third-kit/)
That Bilbao one is absolutely disgusting and not even in a so bad it's good way.
The Stade Rennais one...I don't know, it looks like a standard tee shirt and I feel I should hate it but I almost kind of like it maybe? I would have to see it on the pitch.
Add CD Palencia's 2016-17 anatomy kit over the Fiorentina one. This one was an abomination, trust me. Also Cultural Leonosa's Tux kit over the Stoke one.
> CD Palencia's 2016-17
That kit is amazing. Like it's terrible but purposely so (like the La Hoya one really). The Fiorentina one looks unironically bad.
Liverpool could finish the season with the top 2 scores and top 2 assisters in the league and still finish second to City, and it wouldn’t even be the first time exactly that has happened in the last decade.
🙃🙃🙃 kill me.
Wasn’t their first time apparently and they still didn’t have adequate security. People died in a fucking stadium because of their incompetence. But yea sure it’s feigning outrage.
It's something which gets overdone, to me. He's only ever had 4 seasons in the CL as manager. Two group stage exits, one QF loss to Bayern and one RO16 loss to Barca. Not a great record at all, but also a small sample size, and not as catastrophic as people like to make out.
I remember someone saying Brazilians like Messi more. Idk if it’s credible because the dude was a hardcore messi duck rider but he used it as an example that he’s popular there even tho the countries are football rivals.
Are the European world cup qualifiers going ahead as planned? If so, which teams are replacing Russia? Or, Poland just gets a fee pass to the next round?
Their 3-1 win in 2013, with the comeback starting when the celebrations for Evra's goal had barely stopped, was a psychological if not scoreline trashing
I remember how when Evra scored there was this huge surge of hope and "it might be actually happening!!"... and then they dismantled you
So I've seen quite a few people on here say that if Liverpool don't win a few more trophies then Klopp would have underachieved and I have to ask- what manager do you think could have come in when we were 10th in the league and turn them into title winners and Champions League winners and put together one of the strongest sides in the world- while still spending significantly less than their major rivals (City, United, Chelsea).
Klopp is just managing at a really unlucky time with a Man City team with unlimited funding and a lot going their way results wise. Pep is supposed to leave after next season so maybe Klopp will be able to win the PL again for one season after Pep leaves.
I don't think his tenure as a whole could ever be considered an underachievement, but I think it's valid to say that once he had the team in its peak years, a team of that quality really should have a bit more to show for it. I don't think it should be used as any significant detraction of his legacy though, similar to how people recognise Fergie as United (and English football's) greatest ever manager - but also point out that only winning 2 CLs in amongst that is a smidge of a dark spot.
> but I think it's valid to say that once he had the team in its peak years, a team of that quality really should have a bit more to show for it.
I think you become a victim of your own success a bit here though- he's the reason we have that quality in the first place.
Of course, which is why his tenure should be evaluated as a whole, and this isn't a significant detriment to his legacy - but I do still think it's a valid discussion point.
I don’t know why you’d even bother to ask this question, it was obvious you’d be met with rival fans with those twitter level responses like that Chelsea flair who’s mass upvoted for a load of rubbish
People have a weird concept of underachieving. It’s as if there’s more trophies to be win than there actually is. Seen people say Tuchel and Klopp will underachieve if they don’t win the prem this seasons which makes no sense to me as only 1 team can win it
He’s done incredible and honestly it’s just really unfortunate that pep has been here at the same time because you’d have 1-2 more league titles guaranteed. I still do think 2 major trophies and 2 minor ones is not indicative of how talented that team and coach are.
I think he definitely needs another major trophy. Getting Liverpool to this point is a huge achievement but another trophy would definitely be the cherry on top.
> Getting Liverpool to this point is a huge achievement but another trophy would definitely be the cherry on top.
Yeah, I agree with that. He's already a legend here (anyone who broke the drought would have been) but another major trophy solidifies him as one of the greatest imo.
While already a Liverpool legend I thinks if he wins another CL he can stake a real claim to be a top three if not maybe the second greatest german manager of all time so far he’s imo in the top five but I wouldn’t go above that. So let’s hope he does it. If he wins two more CLs with you he would probably be considered the greatest ever.
I prefer Herberger because him leading us as underdogs to our first international title was an unbelievable achievement at the time. While maybe not Greece/ Leicester fairy tale like, we were the clear underdogs and thanks to him we pulled it off.
I think it’s more so klopp is called by Liverpool fans as the best in the world and Liverpool is a team with the best gk, cb, fullbacks, dm, and apparently the best player in the world in salah. With a super team like this, led by the best coach. The expectations is probably more than 2 big trophies in 5 seasons since having this team built
People moving the goalposts every single week for what falls under big trophy haha, can’t even count the domestic cups anymore after we won it the other week. If you’re only dealing in league titles and Champions League’s as big trophies, everybody’s tally will sound tiny.
It’s only the last three years the team has gotten to this quality. We obviously got to the CL final in 17/18 but that was purely testament to great coaching and outstanding individual performances to get there, the team as a whole had no right getting that far.
18/19 onwards is when we became a top level team. That year we won the Champions League, the season after we won the Premier League. 20/21 is the most injury ravaged defensive crisis I’ve ever seen, 27 different defensive partnerships in the league alone, fact we got top 4 from that situation is Klopp’s most impressive feat given the circumstances yet. This year we’ve won the League Cup, which was commonly regarded a big trophy up until about 2 weeks ago and are on track to potentially win more
Well given the shit Klopp was given for not taking it seriously and disgracing the integrity of English football I’m surprised there’s been such a shift in its stature the last few weeks

Oh look. It’s the League Cup. Like I said, he got pelters for both. He got pelted for taking senior players to the Club World Cup and lracing the kids to play the League Chp
> I think it’s more so klopp is called by Liverpool fans as the best in the world
Given what I just said I think it's clear that he is one of the best, no? Again- who else is doing what he did?
> a team with the best gk, cb, fullbacks, dm, and apparently the best player in the world in salah
None of those players were considered near the best in the world prior to joining Liverpool though. They became better because of Klopp.
He's only played a season though so I don't think you can really be classified at that level until you sustain it. Not to say he wasn't playing that well at Roma- there was a reason we paid what we did.
I don't think it's particularly shocking that fans big up a coach, one that brought a league title back to them after a 30 year drought.
We're also competitive against probably one of the most dominant premier league sides (under a tenure of a particular manager) in history. City have been unreal for 4 or so years, now.

Agreed. On a side note a fellow WOT fan?

7-1 is incredibly unfair on salzburg, they're really good
Who would you rather have (similar wages)? Felix or Halland? I feel like this sub tends to underrate felix a lot
That Felix-Odegaard-Saka link up would be silky af but Haaland is the better player I think
On similar wages, Haaland. In general, also Haaland. I’d only have Felix if I was playing a 2-striker team really
I would take felix tbh. Reckon he would thrive in a good attacking system

De bruyne would be more deserving than Salah tbf. KDB's main job is not to score goals. And he's been playing really good, unlike a certain Egyptian.
Come on lol, saying he deserves it over Salah this season is a bit much. Bernardo, Cancelo and Rodri have been better than KDB
Wouldn't surprise me if he wins it again. Only player in our team who's got good PR.
Not sure on that, loads of neutrals rave about Bernardo, Cancelo and Dias, and the English media in particular love Foden and Sterling
When I say good PR I mean people rating you high even after a bad patches of performances, because they know the quality is there. PR like Ronaldo, Messi, Salah, Lewy, and such. The players you have named are underrated if anything. Especially sterling.
Sadly true

Another shocking stat, Reece James has 2 G/A less than Trent Alexander-Arnold in around 950 less minutes in the league
Liverpool fans and a gassing up their team every player they have is the best ever to have played the game.
Abysmal.
You'd honestly never guess if you took everything they said seriously. Somehow scoring goals doesn't count as contributing offensively, only assists..
They will claim matip is the best cb in the world and upvote it to the front page.

>how far removed from reality are you? Mate I literally said I was happy to be corrected, don’t be a cunt
Don’t let anything distract you from the fact that Antonio Conte is unbeaten with 5 or more days rest at Tottenham Hotspur. Workhorse
What is this stat? Amount of rest?
When they've had 5 or more days to rest prior to a game, he's never lost one
Oh that, okay thanks.
He also has 1.3 ppg in games when he’s had less than 5 days rest. He’s going to throw the CL group stages next season if he gets there
Can’t blame him, he only seems to care about the league everywhere he goes
Explains why he’s done fuck all in the CL
It's something which gets overdone, to me. He's only ever had 4 seasons in the CL as manager. Two group stage exits, one QF loss to Bayern and one RO16 loss to Barca. Not a great record at all, but also a small sample size, and not as catastrophic as people like to make out.
Do Brazilians like Messi or Cristiano\* Ronaldo more?
I don’t like either of them, but if I had to make a choice I would go with Messi (I’m Brazilian)
Shouldnt they dislike Messi? Argentina's best player.
I remember someone saying Brazilians like Messi more. Idk if it’s credible because the dude was a hardcore messi duck rider but he used it as an example that he’s popular there even tho the countries are football rivals.

I assume he means C. Ronaldo
Are you Brazilian?

Are the European world cup qualifiers going ahead as planned? If so, which teams are replacing Russia? Or, Poland just gets a fee pass to the next round?
Scotland - Ukraine postponed and Poland got a free pass yes.
That sucks. At least they should select some other team in place for Russia. Otherwise Poland would have it much easier than others.
Russia will play after the watii
Good morning to everyone whose team hasn't been trashed by Bayern.
Morning!
Their 3-1 win in 2013, with the comeback starting when the celebrations for Evra's goal had barely stopped, was a psychological if not scoreline trashing I remember how when Evra scored there was this huge surge of hope and "it might be actually happening!!"... and then they dismantled you

Gladbach flairs can finally come out of hiding
I expect Klopp to leave too sadly. We'll see though.
All the great managers end up like that, though -- that's just how it goes.
Seen people say Tuchel and Klopp will underachieve if they don’t win the prem this seasons which makes no sense to me as only 1 team can win it
Shoulda got Arteta lad
Who're top 5 for you?
Personal order, others might disagree. Sepp Herberger Jupp Heynckes Helmut Schön Ottmar Hitzfeld Jürgen Klopp
Surprised Jupp is not first.
I prefer Herberger because him leading us as underdogs to our first international title was an unbelievable achievement at the time. While maybe not Greece/ Leicester fairy tale like, we were the clear underdogs and thanks to him we pulled it off.
I wonder what they share in common hmmm
What is it?
they're all German lol
I asked his top 5 German managers.

City won it how many times in a row and no-one called it a big trophy then…it was basically ignored. stop playing victim

He was given plenty for both, regardless that’s just a side note in my main point really

It’s the League Cup. Like I said, he got pelters for both. He got pelted for taking senior players to the Club World Cup and lracing the kids to play the League Chp

> I think it’s more so klopp is called by Liverpool fans as the best in the world Given what I just said I think it's clear that he is one of the best, no? Again- who else is doing what he did? > a team with the best gk, cb, fullbacks, dm, and apparently the best player in the world in salah None of those players were considered near the best in the world prior to joining Liverpool though. They became better because of Klopp.
Alisson was def considered one of the best itw at roma excuse you
He's only played a season though so I don't think you can really be classified at that level until you sustain it.
