apparently araujo wants 100k a week? what the fuck lmao.
Just played in my local beer league and lost 20-0, someone check on me in the morning please
Greg Taylor (American businessman) is the owner of Querétaro FC.
He was accused in 2021 of leading a corruption network in Liga MX. His company Promanage represents players and coaches and he makes millions of dollars by selling over priced players. He even has representatives working for other clubs. This is how fucked up our league is.
Lowkey , if Arsenal add like 2-3 experienced players to their team they’ll be a pretty good side.
If they had the auba they originally signed there would be no question whether they make top 4 or not
true, thats why we tried so hard to get vlahovic, as unlikely as it would have been.
Pose Pourinho defeated United 6-1 at Old Trafford last season, anything under 7 goals will bring Conte into the fraud watchlist.
How many trophies will Harry Kane get before he retires?
If he goes to man city like he wanted he'll get a handful lol
Would be fitting if it's only the World Cup and he wins the golden boot.
Has anyone been arrested for the Queretaro vs Atlas event?
DD seems really silent for some reason
DD almost ending, EU is asleep, makes sense really
Yeah thought so but I am still surprised it's so dead
EU guys call it 'yank hours' but even their number seems low.
One day I will learn to beat procrastination.
But not this day.
"Lord, grant me chastity and continence. But not yet."
\- Saint Augustine of Hippo
I sometimes forget that Matic cost United 40 million
I watch him play these days and for a slight second think, what a career he's had, wish he came in his prime, but still nonetheless a good signing on a free and then the realization kicks in immediately haha
Wish his legs weren't gone.
Man United vs Spurs this weekend is gloriously unpredictable. Any of a 3-0 home or away win, a 0-0 draw, or a 3-3 draw, would not surprise me in the slightest. If I took a 2 hour nap and missed the game entirely, you could wake me up, tell me any result and my reaction would be "huh, figures..." regardless.
I'm lowkey expecting a 0-0 with both teams not wanting to take control of the game and dropping back in defence.
I’m usually not confident about such big games but I weirdly am optimistic about us punishing them in the transition.
I don't see anyone winning by more than one goal, we're both dogshit. United may be shit, but not Everton levels of shit and like we've seen before just because we won convincingly doesn't mean we turned a corner
Absolutely. I do feel like Spurs could have a chance though, they set up attacking transitions too quickly and I'm not sure if United's defence would be able to handle it.
coin flip, spurs have been hot and cold whereas united are falling apart. I'd take tottenham if i had to bet.
I'd be surprised by a United win personally, their form is grim. Betting on Spurs or a draw.
Spurs have been going from the sublime to the ridiculous on a weekly basis. They could lose to or beat any team in the league right now. Don't rely on them.
Spurs have also been hot and cold.
It’s spurs vs another team that’s garbage in transition. On paper they walk all over them
The question is whether United will leave them the space on the break.
They won’t be able to help it. Their pressing structure isn’t great, and with mctominay being garbage and Maguire in poor form I can see them getting obliterated.
Football isn't played on paper though. Spurs have been fluctuating between excellent and shite for weeks now, they could turn up and be brilliant, or they could put in a performance like against Boro.
Yeah there’s actually no way to predict this.
United’s backline has too many mistakes in them and the Spurs front 3 will be up for the match. I’ll never count out Spurs doing their thing lol but they really should be winning.
All the Red Devils chatting shit about conte look stupid today Lmdao
I mean I think by now it is (or should be) well established that the reason why were so shit isn't on the manager. 4th manager in two years and the same exact shit with each one should make this obvious enough
What? Are they really?
Lots of people in that sub were twerking for Conte when Solskjær was sacked. Weird that they have turned on him.
I had no idea Pep picked up a second job managing Charlotte FC
I like Parry Pane, he's a world class striker that offers a lot more than just goals, hope he wins a major trophy before retirement. No need to compare him to other strikers just yet, I would wait until after the World Cup for that.
To what other strikers? Van Basten, Palermo, Ronaldo?
Marouane Chamakh and Islam Slimani
Can't believe Newcastle and Saint-Etienne are some of the most in form teams in Europe
Guimares wasn't able to walk in like people thought haha
Is Khazri a starter for Saint-Etienne or is he a rotation option?
Would you rather have Gerrard or Lampard as a manager?
Slippy G for me.
Scholes because then I'd get free pedicures too
These toenails don't look after themselves you know
That’s very fair.
wait, what? like scholl's?
Former Manchester United and England player.
Did you start watching recently? Not a dig at you.
not watched PL long enough to have seen him play with Man U but did he play on the NT in 1998?
( i'm not sure how to pronounce it so thought she was making a pun about scholl's foot care products, sorry it's late...)
I was referring to the very odd video a couple of months ago that went round, of Scholes nibbling his teenage daughter's toenails. It caused quite a stir.
"facts i do not need to know at 4:00 am.... ok, check!..." lol, that's awful. 😅
good night DD :)
Yes he did.
Although it isn't that surprising you didn't remember him if that's the case haha. He's a bonefide United legend though and a bit of a disinterested pundit these days haha.
You must remember Michael Owen from 98 though.
yes! he was amazing.
You will most likely remember that game vs Argentina then. Remember a ginger in that midfield? That's Scholesy haha.
Although Becks (David Beckham) and Owen grabbed all the attention in that game in the end and rightfully so haha
> Slippy G
What the fuck is Perisic injured?
Hopefully Gosens is back to his best
An Aston Villa player will start for Brazil in the 2022 World Cup. Mental isn't it
If you think about the amount of money available in England, it's not so surprising.
An Everton player might, and they could well get relegated.
Yeah no way he stays if they get relegated
Instant hero though if he does.
There's going to be quite the exodus
Some of those players who are left might struggle in the Championship though tbf. Genuinely think about half of the Championship have better defenders.
They are in massive trouble if they get relegated with their current owners. They really need to invest smartly or they will probably be struck there for the foreseeable future. Shit signings knowing Moshiri (if they are even able to make signings in the first place) and everyone leaving, they better be praying Gordon or Gray stays if they get relegated and turn into Messi.
Everton only have themselves to blame for this mess. Just abysmal decision making from the people in power. I feel sorry for their fans, they should be a midtable club at the bare minimum with all the money spent, unfortunately it has been spent soooo poorly.
Richarlison might make the squad. He certainly isn't going to start
I thought he was a pretty consistent feature of the Brazil squad recently, and has started some games?
He could start if there is an injury but maybe you were thinking about the Olympics last summer because I think Richarlison started every game.
I mean, an Aston Villa player was a starting member of a Copa America winning squad and also part of a squad which made the Euros final. So yeah its mad only without context haha
Same for us. Massive club though, Emi Martinez is a god.
I just typed out a whole reply about the better 8s/6s brazil has than Douglas Luiz, only just realized you meant Coutinho LOL.
Ollie Watkins Dias will start upfront I'm hearing
Stevie G is a hero for us
has douglas luiz been that good?
Will Salernitanaman show up tomorrow against Liverpool? I highly doubt it
Inter are going to get a hiding, they're so poor
Who the fuck is that?
Lautaro or Dzeko?
Probably talking about Lautaro if he means an individual.
Although given how stupid this attempted burn was, I wouldn’t be surprised if they meant to say Salernitam*e*n to take a shot at Inter as a whole.
Nah clearly an individual haha
Inshallah he steps up
As they say, a City 'United' tomorrow haha (cue the plastic jokes, but the locals in here,if they even exist, are probably asleep haha)
Sports washing is by far the best PR you can buy. I swear to God countries could donate 1 billion to cancer research and no one would care, but 1 billion to a sports team and the fans will defend them to the ends of the earth
Does cancer research wins you the Champions League?
Who gives a shit what a couple million fans think though? Only sportswashing that has worked is at Chelsea given how they all worship Abramovich
Convincing millions of people to support something they wouldn't otherwise at all is kind of the point of pr
People don't support club ownership, they support a club. People would support PSG, City, Newcastle regardless of ownership
You're telling me PSG hasn't gained more fans than they would've if Qatar hadn't spent millions and millions?
The other thing is that convincing the current fan base that Saudi Arabia or whatever has a great government is a lot in of itself
The amount of fans has nothing to do with sportswashing. The PSG fans aren't supporting Qatar, they are supporting PSG. "Sportswashing" is alleging that people are taking a favourable view of the ownership directly because of the club, which is not necessarily the case. Most fans don't care about the ownership
> People would support PSG, City, Newcastle regardless of ownership
>The amount of fans has nothing to do with sportswashing.
Once you figure out which of these stances you'd like to argue let me know
? Both of those are factual statements lmao. The reason City has more fans now than they did a decade ago isn't because of "sportswashing", it is because they are good and spend a shit load of money. Do you know what the definition of sportswashing is?
> it is because they are good and **spend a shit load of money.**
Hmmmm and why do they spend a shit load of money? Lmao.
One of the reasons is to sportswash. No one is denying that. You've moved the goalposts so far away from the original point about fans. Lmao.
Just seen an arsenal fan say we spent 54 million on dele alli
It’s crazy you spent 319m on iwobi, mina and Dele
Can’t believe you lot spent a combined 146 million on dele and iwobi 🤣
Genuinely think people will believe that next time we lose
There is a girl called Chelsea in my class and every time the teacher calls on her to answer, I instinctively start chanting "Chelshit, Chelshit, Chelshit, Chelshit scum" at her. She always bursts into tears. Then I get called to the principal's office and he tells me never to do it again, but I can't stop. I don't even hate Chelsea that much, and she doesn't know anything about football. Please help me Reddit.
I know a few Chelsea fans who have called their daughter "Chelsea" out of love of the club. Weird for me, that, because we tend to have such love-hate relationships with our football teams. When we've suffered a bad loss sometimes the last thing I want to be thinking about is my club, or football in general. Having my offspring be a constant reminder would be odd.
Meet my son, Wolverhampton Wanderers Martinez
This is inspirational behaviour please keep doing what you’re doing sir
NTA chelshit are scum
Out of the bottom six in the Prem, who at this moment do you think is going to go down?
**Norwich** for me is one, 5 pts adrift and basically 6 with that goal difference. I don't think even with Roy, **Watford** have the quality to win enough to get clear. Burnley have the best goal difference in the bottom seven, I'd actually back them to escape. **Everton** have the quality and it'd be a shock if they were relegated but they need to turn it around quick as the momentum is against them. **Leeds** have the second worst GD and played more than Burnley/Everton, I don't think the manager will save them and it'll be them. **Brentford** have enough goals in them to stay up I think.
It's gonna be Brentford, Watford, and Norwich. Brentford have looked horrific
The Brentford squad seems to have had a boost mentally too with Eriksen coming in. And it could be huge. During the goal celebrations he was behaving like an absolute leader and the team really doesn't want to let him down by the looks of it. His presence is huge, and his footballing ability isn't too shabby either. He's looked good so far apparently and if it continues to be the case then Brentford's chances of staying up go even higher.
Eriksen was a bit of a gamble but I agree, he's probably saved them from the drop. That win over Norwich was a massive boost for them.
Everton do have pretty bad fixtures, though. West Ham, Liverpool, and Arsenal away, Wolves, United, and Chelsea home, Leicester both home and away.
Friendly reminder that kane’s goals are more ethical than benzema’s👍
Mom swearer vs daughter swearer, Henry is clear 👍
I can confirm. Kane’s goals are all farm to table from the rich farmlands of the Barclays.
Matt Doherty’s FBREF report would have you believe he’s rivaling Trent for who’s the best right back itw lol
What is FBREF
Benzema shouldn't be highly rated for the fact he is an awful human being.
How i rate him at football and how i rate him as a human are different topics tbh. Same with about every player or i wouldn't enjoy the sport given how digusting so many are.
Maradona is regarded as one of the Goats.
Unfortunately it's been that way for a lot sports and the rich in general, wonder how much rapists are hiding in the closet.
As they say, you have no other choice rather than separating the art from the artist when looking at their accomplishments and judging their active 'art' life.
What team is more dominant - Pep's Bayern or Pep's City?
Pep's Bayern got crusaded by Enrique's Barca
Also got destroyed by Madrid a year before.
Pep's City, 100%. It'd take a special manager to fuck up Bayern Munich.
What? Bayern Munich have been the dominant side in German football for most of modern history, and certainly since the early 2000s. They won a treble in 2013.
Guardiola came into a job managing a side who were far and away the most best in Germany, and carried that on.
Their current dominance isn't because of Pep, it's because they're Bayern - and they have financial supremacy over the rest of German football, by far the best squad, and have done for years.
The won which won the Champions League, oh wait 🤭
Don't think Pep's Bayern colluded with the referees.
Neither won the champions League, because unlike at Barca, pep couldn't pay the referees.
How many champions leagues do Arsenal have again?
why can’t he pay the refs at City?
He can pay them in oil.
Not sure, I'll ask him tomorrow
Paying for refs is a great way of winning football matches
Based Barca fan
Agreed, people don’t bring up the Chelsea game as much as it deserves to. Day light robbery. But then again, half the sub wasnt born or too young to see it.
some of the comments on here make it sound as if Kane played for Everton his whole career. Spurs were really good for quite a while
Still a difference between Spurs and Bayern Munich.
Yeah, so it’s a bit of a pointless thing to note
I don't see a lot denying that tbh. They are only defending Kane by mentioning the quality of the team in recent seasons, not under Poch.
And the prem was worse than it is now
Really good is subjective, but I think it’s a fair point to bring up when people compare him to Aguero, Lewandowski, etc. i mean yea spurs were good but compare eriksen and Poch to KDB, Muller, Pep and Flick for example.
Also the fact that he lead the premier league in goals AND assists on a team that sacked their manager halfway through the season is probably why the point about spurs being bad gets brought up so much. And it is a hugely impressive carryjob
over the last 5 season I think it’s fair to say there were 2 seasons where Spurs were as good as Bayern or even better maybe. I’m not saying Kane plays for a top 5 club itw but they definitely were really good
Damn bro you can still delete this, not too late. Gigadumb.
At no point were spurs as good as Bayern.
18/19 and 16/17 they have a case imo. even during the 7:2 spanking in 19/20 they really dominated Bayern for the first 30 minutes. their quality was still visible even if Poch’s reign was clearly coming to an end
Absolutely not. 18/19 MAYBE, very very debatable, but 16/17 definitely not. That 16/17 Bayern side was on an entirely different level from Spurs.
Poch's Spurs might go down as the best team to never win a trophy, a team that was arguably better than the Man Utd squad who won the EL or the Arsenal team that won those last two FA Cups with Wenger
I can't believe I live in a world where people think Kane is better than Benzema and Henry
Henry clear but Kane up for contention imo
Kane isn't even close
He's certainly close. If you think Benzema is so significantly better than him then you're overrating Benzema (who's not on a par with Henry btw)
rooney or shearer?
Ive seen Rooney so him.
Didn’t know humans could evolve wrong until I saw some of the takes from the Madrid flairs here
Real Madrid fans are never wrong
Which take in particular
Couldn’t name one in particular. Would probably be one involving Ozil or something.
The Benzema > Kane thing is incessant, but isn’t ridiculous at least. I don’t agree but I also don’t really care
When you have so many bad takes you don’t know which one someone is referring to😭
I mean he is English, he'd think Karim> Kane is a bad take.
Even tho Benz is clear
Does 5th place premier league go straight to Europa league or do they get to do playoff rounds for qualification into UCL?
Straight to Europa League, but that would change if they win the Champions League or Europa League.
One for r/soccer
Peak Falcao or Peak Lewandowski
Because overall career wise Lewandowski of course has been the better player and wins is quite easily.
But Falcao wins this using this alone as a barometer in my opinion.
And yeah, not my fault for the word peak/prime used in every debates and people use it as a barometer in here. So I thought why not start a 'peak' debate myself.
It’s such a difficult comparison because Falcao’s prime 3 years where he was the best ST itw was split across 2 teams/leagues, and then under a process-building Atletico side managed by Diego Simeone. He never got to play on a truly top top team, and even though Atletico were quite good in 12/13, they were still a hugely defensive Simeone side that only scored 1.71 goals a game in La Liga. Compare that to Bayern last year who scored 2.91 goals per game in the Bundesliga for example.
Falcao’s prime is very hard to truly explain unless you saw it live, but he had it all. I think his movement off the ball and athleticism was better than Lewa’s, as well as his take on ability, but Lewa’s first touch and ball control are better and allow him to be so lethal anytime he gets the ball in the box. I’d maybe give a slight edge to Falcao because I can see him being about as good as Lewa on Bayern whereas I feel Lewa might not have been as good as Falcao was if u drop him in those Atletico/Porto sides.
Short hair just doesn't do Falcao justice haha. Its sad that he became a what if player. I am glad that he had the renaissance at Monaco.
Yea winning ligue 1 was a big plus for his career. That goal vs city in the CL too 🤩
This is for some reason one of the most vivid goal (and game) in my brain.
Falcao in his prime was better. I don't care about career stats even though I love Lewandowski
Messi in 2012
Not my fault everyone is doing that haha
Because everyone with a brain knows Robert Lewandowski has been a better footballer than Falcao overall
I just thought the very 'peak' would be more interesting. Come on, this sub compares Benzema to Henry ffs
I’m just joking around. I haven’t seen enough to Falcao to judge but he seemed unstoppable for a while
I hate it here man Lewandowski scored 70 goals last year. Falcao has 0 argument
Of course mate. Lewandowski is the better player without a shadow of a doubt.
But I wanted to start a 'peak' debate myself. And Falcao was so good in his very 'peak'. If purely on that basis I would pick Falcao and even then it's very close but yeah, Lewandowski blows Falcao out of the water overall. It's not even the most ridiculous of 'peak' comparison on this sub.
Not my fault for the word peak and prime being beaten up to death. Falcao only stands a chance this way though.
It literally means nothing, I would have that season of 'peak' Michu over a lot of other top seasons of many top class players haha. Subs fault, not mine.
And yeah your emphasis on goals isn't the greatest is it as Falcao banged in nearly as much as Lewa in poorer sides
He didn’t bang even close to nearly as many. His best season was probably under 40 goals. You don’t need to start a debate where there’s not one to be had
Fair enough that was an exaggeration but he still scored a lot at a 2 considerably weaker sides. Put him in a side as good as Bayern and current Bundesliga and he will come close to matching Lewandowski's numbers. His returns were absolutely incredible then. Both were so good at almost everything and it goes down to a matter of preference and I prefer Falcao in his 3-4 best years. Obviously it's neck and tight.
And yeah Lewandowski blows him out of the water overall but it's certainly not a no contest when comparing 'peak' which the sub loves to do. You are being a bit harsh on him. It certainly wasn't an opinion that warranted a come on man this sub reaction haha. That would be the Benzema Henry ones. Falcao was truly an animal and it's sad that he's become a what if player. He would have definitely ended up in the Suarez and Lewandowski category, no doubt about it. Shame about his injuries or 'injury'.
Weird thought experiment, interested to hear how people go about doing this. Using the same 11 players that started your club’s last game, what is the *worst* formation and line up you could put them in?
Starting XI: Mendy, Chalobah, Thiago Silva, Rudiger, James, Kante, Jorginho, Saul, Mount, Pulisic, Havertz
Tricky tbh as we have quite a few versatile players. I had to put James in goal because he'd legit be alright anywhere. Won Wigan's POTY on loan, playing as a central midfielder. We know he can play across the back, and with his attacking ability would legit be serviceable upfront. Saul was hard to place, too.
Case Karim Modric Tibo
Militao Vini Carvajal
Mendy Alaba Cama
I feel genuinely scared for the psg vs real, the fact that mbappe scored a late last minute goal shows that even with mbappe, messi and Neymar they can't play as a team and only wants the glory of goal scoring, only if mbappe starts passing and showing humility maybe they can score some team goals even if it's a tap in
(Ik the Feb match, psg had 21 shots and real had 3 but, only 8 were on shot why? Because the 3 fowards haven't decided to play as a team and score some team goals)
The Mbappe goal was brilliantly set up by Neymar, and was a team goal.
Sorry forgot to add it was mbappe that was solo goaling and not playing as a team, but couldn't blame him since he's a striker
Since Özil came up in the interview and Odegaard has performed well I’ve seen on Twitter some people say Odegaard has surpassed Özil and I’ll be honest I don’t think Odegaard will surpass what Özil did in his career. Some people have short term memory
