absurdlyinconvenient

€40m, christ. There's 100% better options in and around that price bracket, no wonder they said no

lospollosakhis

The thing with morata is, he always looks like he’ll turn out to be good. He’s pacey and a decent dribbler, works hard and gets into patches of form that convince you he can be a top striker. However he’s never been able to stay consistent, and is wholly reliant on being in good spirits to actually play well.

san771

That’s been the case for a decade now, I think it’s safe to assume he won’t

OleoleCholoSimeone

There are plenty of examples of players who only reach consistency very late in their careers though

san771

are there, though?

L-Freeze

Yes, definitely there. Although Morata certainly doesn’t look like the next Luca Toni. But you never know.

MyBoyBernard

My personal hero Aritz Aduriz! Did the old Zlatan trick of scoring more goals after turning 30 than before. Was playing in teams like Athletic, Mallorca and Valencia in his 20s, scoring a goal every four games. Then came back to Athletic at 30 years old, started playing more games, and scored a goal every two games for the next six seasons! But yea, clearly a very lonely outlier. He's just my hero, so I have to represent. Plus he made some records and memories along the way. 1. A couple Zarra Trophies 2. A couple top scorer of Europa League 3. A 5-goal game in EL 4. The hat trick against Barcelona in the super cup 5. Became the oldest goal scorer for the Spanish team

Mudassar40

He's consistently offside, so theres that.

lospollosakhis

He consistently seems to flatter to deceive too. He looked pretty good in that Roma game. I think coaches look at his profile and think that’s a player I can improve and turn into a killer striker. I guess he runs hard too, which is a bonus in modern systems.

Barkasia

Hasn't stopped half of the big clubs in Europe spunking ridiculous amounts of money on him, genuinely amazing how much money his transfers have totalled.

Enartloc

Morata is the original NFT

carvemynuts

HAHAHAHAHA WTF.

SanSeb

If some washed up Burnley Striker is worth 25m, then Morata is worth 40.

holhaspower

They’ve actually scored the exact same amount of league goals over the last 5 seasons (49). One did it at Chelsea, Atleti and Juve. The other at Burnley.

Spoof2020

Footballs most elaborate money laundering scheme

innatejuiciness

Agreed. A swap Memphis - Morata on loan would have been good. 40M for Morata is daylight robbery. Thank god we aren't going for him. I'd rather save and spend it on a world class player in the summer.

udiniad

Considering it's a direct rival, of course they are charging double

innatejuiciness

I'm not saying they shouldn't ask for that much, I'm saying he isn't worth it. Griezmann is much more valuable than Morata, they're insane if they value them similarly. Anways, we will go from having only L. de Jong and Jutgla available, to having Memphis, Ansu, Braithwaite and F. Torres. We now have many options to play as a striker, I don't think we need any more goalscorers this season to achieve the objective of qualifying for CL and fighting for EL and CdR.

Tre10Quartista

He’s the point guy that you might be missing but agree that you have a nice selection of forwards already

andysenn

If the piece you are missing is Morata you have to do some soul searching as a team lol

Serinanda

Griezmann comes with around 3 times the salary and Barca desperete to offload him.

voli12

Cmon we gifted them Villa, Suárez and Griezzman. Can't we get something too?

Starbuck1992

It's 35m for the agreeddeal plus 5 for the agreed loan. I would assume it would have been option to buy for them too, not obligation. It's the same deal we had.

47Lecht

This way Atletico is never gonna get rid off Morata

Omair88

As a Barca fan in elated we won't be going for him. Thank fuck

nhlasko

Why dont they get the Suarez regen at Granada

Uyemaz

To be fair Luis Suarez (Uruguay) was the regen to Luís Suarez (Spain) for Barca.

clutch-cream-run

Luis Suarez the Third.

Dark-X

Suarez^^3

Pardonme23

Isn't there another one in La Liga rn?

huzzaahh

That's who nhlasko was referring to

acwilan

Luis Suarez-Peters

PantomimeEagle

Bit much to spend on a back up for Luuk

AjenoMerveilles

£40 million for Morata is like me charging someone 50 pence to have sex with me. No one, not a one is going to pay that.

acwilan

Just sell your virginity as an NFT

JimmyWu21

Are you asking if op is ok or you asking if they’re good in bed?

anotverygoodwritter

Yes

WhyAlwaysMe1991

I’m sure someone desperate enough will take it

AjenoMerveilles

... You have more faith in Morata's ability than I do.

TheGeniusArvind

Who was talking about Morata 😏😏

triplereffekt

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

HippoBigga

After years of mocking him it'd be weird to see him in a Barça shirt. Glad we're not spending that much on him and he's staying away

JimmyWu21

For someone that is supposed to be shit. He sure does end up at a lot of big clubs.

Level-Ad7017

Memphis Delay would like to have a word

Tre10Quartista

Funny with all these comments except that Morata has played for Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, Atletico and is wanted by Barca. Just maybe people underrate the player 🤷‍♂️

Brilliant-Win4152

Yeah, he is a great player when he doesnt have to be the main focus of the attack.

ManchesterisBleu

There’s a reason he’s always being let go lol. He can’t start for title contender teams

Starbuck1992

He won titles and reached CL finals as a starter though

[deleted]

despite being a starter*

Tre10Quartista

Why do big clubs continue to want him. They want to spend 30,40,50,60M for him to sit the bench?

Vic_Rodriguez

There’s a reason all those big clubs fall flat on their asses when they do.

Tre10Quartista

Just love it when I see people talk as if they have worked as a SD for years

Vic_Rodriguez

Don’t need to be a SD to point out the obvious: Morata would have been considered a flop for every club he signed up for so far if not for the fact they somehow always manage to sell him again for similar amounts and make back their money. He’s just a footballing Ponzi Scheme

Tre10Quartista

He’s only been a flop at Chelsea. Was top scorer for Atletico. Good player in a terrible Juve team this year. Was good for Madrid too but only one player around today would unseat Benzema

Vic_Rodriguez

They’re paying significant amounts for him and he never broke the 20G/year mark for any club he’s played for.

Level-Ad7017

He has Laporte nudes NFTs

Fati25

There's a reason they all let go of him.

Tre10Quartista

There’s a reason he’s still wanted by big teams every time

Kokett30

As a Backup

Tre10Quartista

Chelsea spent how much for a backup? Morata started and was the top scorer for Atletico. Starts for Juve

Starbuck1992

He's a starter, but even if he was a backup, a backup for Real Madrid, Atletico, Juve, Barca, Chelsea, still has to be a very good player, don't you think?

MrSINXT

Thank god.

reema9385

Thank god.

jimzzz38

We have LdJ anyways, Morata would be in his shadow

Salvador1010

Whew

oniprion

This is a blessing, do not want this guy anywhere near Barcelona

Dellato88

I hope Atleti lowers the price and we end up getting him in the end... but for 40M? Lol no, love the guy but he's not worth that.

AtleticoFan17

Why didn’t we just ask for 30 million instead????

Pewds_Minecraft

Why is psg not letting icardi go. It's not like they don't have strikers

Omair88

Thank fuck for that. Thank you Atleti

Lazyan

Take Lukaku you cheap bastards
