"The founding clubs have suffered"...
Yeah, who the fuck asked you to buy Coutinho, Greizman, and Dembele for 140 m each in every transfer window, when you are barely being able to use any?
Boohoo, we are broke because of terrible footballing decisions by.. \*checks notes\*, fans owned club, because we went ham trying appease our fans so that we keep winning elections without any business sense, and now we want more money to continue in our mission of making the leagues more unequal by pillaging their best players to sit on our bench.
Barcelona has like, the worst transfer negotiations team ever, for that amount they spent on these 3 players, I probably can build a top-4 starting 11 or a mid-table 23-man squad with leftovers for a year’s supply of McNuggets.
On the pitch maybe...for now. But even the most brilliant footballer eventually retires, and he´s left a gigantic hole in the ledger that will be near-impossible to recover from unless the banks they owe money to actually think they are too big to fail and it's better to write off some of their debts.
I have stated this somewhere else. For every Dortmund fan owned story, there are plenty more terrible ones. For every owner like the one Brighton have, there are plenty of pashun merchants who are too involved in the club and call all the shots, chop and change to their whims and don't give a shit about the culture.
Glazers are a known entity: impassioned owners who put money into the team but have zero football acumen and have too many yes men on board. Share the voting rights among a CEO, a fan representative, director, manager and Glazers. Have a pact of how much money will be provided to the club out of its revenue each year, and let the people with football acumen decide what it is best used for. Personally, that would be my favoured outcome. Anything else is too unrealistic.
Yeah mate and you know it all.
Spending a billion pounds and having the second highest wage bill up untill last year isn't peanuts.
We wasted it all and have let OT rot because we have idiots at the top. Having a more passionate owner won't solve shit. Having footballing people calling the shots will, like how Ajax and Bayern have..
Ah mate, one person's opinion and you think the entire sub is glazers apologist. You can call me whatever the fuck you want.
But here are some more facts for you:
United belongs to glazers. So, even if they spend a million to buy Bebe, it is still classified as Glazers spending.
They will not sell unless govt intervenes. It is their cashcow. Makes zero sense and there are zero rules to force a sale unless the club is in distress when it isn't.
I don't want it owned by another state backed megalomaniac.
United are where we are not because of lack of spending.
These are the facts. Better get used to it before calling people glazers apologists.
> United belongs to glazers. So, even if they spend a million to buy Bebe, it is still classified as Glazers spending. They will not sell unless govt intervenes. It is their cashcow.
no way sherlock holmes is that you?
Stuff can be two things. Sure they've allowed United to spend the money the club has made on name and brand alone...as long as they can still take their dividends and improve the marketability of the club. Since the sponsorship deals are probably hitting a plateau, best case scenario for fans (aside from them selling their majority holding of voting shares and giving the stocks that anyone can buy some power) is they see the value in world class training facilities (maximizing youth potential and freeing up money for future dividends, duh) and make Old Trafford into a disney-level fan experience. I find it remarkable they haven't tried slapping a sponsor on OT yet, let alone how they have lacked the foresight that renovating and expanding on fan experiences in OT would attract even more fans to the area and make everyone more money.
They're terrible owners by any metric you use.
Having a more passionate owner would change shit, the reason our owners allowed woodward and judge and co to waste a billion is because they didn't care. Do you think someone who cared about the club would have kept woodward in charge? No, I think it's fairly safe to say they would have tried to put someone in charge that would do a good job for the club.
50+1 is nothing like what they have in Spain though. Honestly, it's almost as different from that as 50+1 is from what we have. It's like arguing for extreme capitalism or extreme socialism instead of recognizing that a blend of both actually works better.
yea and they've basically financially made it impossible for any other club to compete against the top 2... so no excuses
i hope la liga puts in some reforms so that barca and real won't hoard all the wealth
I think it's possible just because of how much the league has suffered in recent years. They invested extra into the top to help drag the league up, but now it's failing.
This reminds me of how I had very little sympathy for Barcelona when they had all that trouble with their president not so long ago. *They elected him*.
You'd think that FFP would have been set up to prevent this sort of thing. Instead, these clubs were only limited in their gambling exploits by their own stupidity.
In short: “We’ve ran our clubs so badly and completely fucked ourselves financially that we can’t back down now, even though this league is clearly dead”
Imagine feeling sorry for Madrid who has made it a habit out of buying the best PL players in the last decades, or fucking Barca financing pool's PL and CL with brain dead transfers.
I'd love to see them go bankrupt.
You're right, Google gave me dollars and pounds for each and I didn't notice. Doesn't change the fact that he was less than half of the transfer budget so it doesn't really matter.
The more they bang on about this the more I realize just how fiscally fucked Barca and Real are, and maybe even juventus. Like we're in debt but it's manageable or at least that's what we're lead to believe. If it wasn't manageable then I imagine we'd be doing what Perez and co are doing now. 1 billion In debt, each. Absolutely fucked because they don't really have anything to show for it in the sense that they're spending all this money on worsening squads. It's mental. People say Barca and real are the biggest club and it's their dream to play for them but really it's the money. These guys pay ridiculous wages - even by our standards. All for what? To be 1 of two teams competing for a la Liga title? It's just untenable.
Exactly. I was completely unsurprised by the collapse of Barca and Real to the degree of which it's happened. Horrible spending that hasn't really helped them and they compete in a boring league. People say that LC was a one off, but it's a one off that doesn't happen in La Liga.
True. I watch United religiously but there are many, many, MANY matchups in the PL all the way down the table that I´ll tune in for because I know that there will be some really good football on offer, and every team has some players that I enjoy watching.
Seems like that is not the case in Spain.
Jesus Christ. Even the Glazers have been more repentant than these cunts. We are of course to see if they keep their word and whatnot, but at least they have denounced this shit instead of doubling down on it.
That's because the prem actually makes money, and while Utd is run terribly, it's not run the same type of terrible as them. The fact is, we still have money.
Chuck them out of the UCL ASAP. Barca and Real wasted stupid amounts of money on Jovic, Hazard, Coutinho, Griezmann and are paying Messi eye watering amounts to rack up that amount of debt. Juve were once a well-ran club but similar to the other 2, spunked money up the wall and are stranded with the possibility of an AC resurgence and Inter being the best side in Italy. No side deserves to stay at the top. Football's based on merit and if you collapse then so be it.
get fucked, enjoy not being in CL for the next seasons u cunts. Then they'll see how big the gap really is when the likes of Leicester and West Ham start closing the gap between them in Europe =)
This is exactly what makes football so beautiful, and it's exactly why the Super League is the worst idea since fascism. Clubs like Barcelona or Real Madrid will eventually pay for their incredibly shit decisions they've made over the last few years, because smaller, well-run clubs will close the gap and start beating them. We as ManUtd have been undergoing something similar now for a while unfortunately, but I find that the beauty of the game. Fuck those clubs who think they're entitled to being among the best.
Interesting tactic of doubling down against a body that can easily ban them.
Can't wait to see this super league format of a 1v1v1 with three goals and three balls.
Y shaped pitch, just the two balls. 13 a side meaning roughly 4 defenders and 4 attackers/midfielders per attacking third. The attackers from Barca act like defenders in Juves third while Real have the ball but if they win it they turn on Juve and the same obviously in the other thirds. 3 refs, one in each third. All teams chasing that elusive double goal by scoring with both balls on the keeper at the same time.
My imagination kind of ran away there for this joke and now I like my own concept but fuck the Super League!
Don’t forget shortening the length of matches because an elderly Spanish billionaire thinks Kids Today™ can’t sit still for 90 minutes.
God, I think I hate Florentino Perez more than Mino Raiola.
It would be such bullshit if the 9 clubs including us get the punishment they announced today and the 3 end up not getting punished at all because they appeal and win at CAS like City did with FFP
Barcelona pay Messi over 100 million euros a year in compensation. The financial woes are self inflicted. These clubs have brilliant academies, they need to focus on developing top talent there instead of buying aging stars
Barca owes 100mill to other clubs for transfers alone some for.players that have already moved on to other clubs for less.
It's like taking out a loan for a shitbox car because it has cool wheels find it's it's not practical barely runs and costs a fortune to maintain. All to sell it to some other mug for less than you paid for whilst still owing money on it.
🐍🐍🐍
They are just butt hurt that football is getting more competitive and they all now have ageing squads on the decline. It’s starting to look like for the foreseeable future English teams will dominate europe just like the Spanish clubs did about 10 years ago, Atletico have a really good chance of winning La Liga if they can hold on and Juventus have just lost Serie A to Inter for the first time in however many years. These clubs presidents are now being sore losers and are trying to distract the fans that they failed their jobs. It’s embarrassing they are still trying to push this ESL ahead when they are now in the minority of the snakes. I hope UEFA bans all three of them from next seasons CL.
EDIT: I will love it if Atletico beat Barca today, I will love it.
Surprise surprise it's the 3 most financially fucked clubs that cling on to this greedy dogshit idea of a league. Anyway without the EPL teams they have no pull whatsoever. They're fucked and I love it.
What's their devious plan now? A three team league? Or are they gonna keep playing el classicos with Juve as ball boys?
Cause after the backlash the PL teams are running scared. PSG don't wanna play. The German fans wouldn't let them join the ESL at any cost. So who's left?
The delusion among the 3 clubs and their brain dead fans is astounding. So their solution for their hall of fame level mismanagement and to go up against state and billionaire owners is to create a league with the teams they're railing against. Give me a fucking break. Hope they fucking cease to exist the fucking shit stains.
I will never forgive Barca for purchasing Coutinho from Liverpool for insane money and financing their final pieces of the jigsaw in the process. Even more infuriating is that he flopped so bad. Liverpool literally hit the jackpot with that one. Fucking Barca. Get fucked. Same with Real and Hazard.
y'know, they can still back off of ESL and just... come back
and maybe run their clubs better? plan to pay off the 1bn in debt? make a more sustainable financial model for their respective leagues?
"The founding clubs have suffered"... Yeah, who the fuck asked you to buy Coutinho, Greizman, and Dembele for 140 m each in every transfer window, when you are barely being able to use any? Messi earning €135m a year also doesn’t help them lol.
That is precisely what is keeping them competitive actually
On the pitch maybe...for now. But even the most brilliant footballer eventually retires, and he´s left a gigantic hole in the ledger that will be near-impossible to recover from unless the banks they owe money to actually think they are too big to fail and it's better to write off some of their debts.
You’re not wrong lol.

Our protestors have largely been asking for the German 50+1 model though, rather than the Spanish socio version

And pay Griezmann 750000 pw.
Spot on fella
Agree with this post with a good point about the fan owned clubs.

Madrid financed Chelsea’s summer with the Hazard move.
And barca the Vvd/allison moves with coutinho!
And Real our Valencia/Obertan moves with Ronaldo...
Only a little of it. He cost what, 90M? And they spent almost 300M
He was 100 and they spend 220 this summer
You're right, Google gave me dollars and pounds for each and I didn't notice. Doesn't change the fact that he was less than half of the transfer budget so it doesn't really matter.
Yeah I was certainly exaggerating. Chelsea do sell players really well though
Lmao at that Barca part 😂
The more they bang on about this the more I realize just how fiscally fucked Barca and Real are, and maybe even juventus. I'm fine with the glazers paying a million in fines out their own pocket. In fact I'm more fine with that than us avoiding any fines.
Glazers paying millions in fines out of their pocket Paying millions through the dividends they earn you mean?
Oh no doubt it was originally our money. But now it's not theirs either. Every little helps.
Statement from cunts
