Defensively not as sound as Case ofcourse, but better going forward, more press resistant etc. Recent injury and world cup has taken a toll. Yes Case is definitely more sound defensively. And to be fair to Tchou, the vision for him, I believe, was not to be Case's replacement in the KCM. Even last season it was apparent that we needed a starting RB and RW, a substitute CDM and a future replacement for Benz. Instead we got a good CDM sub but sold our starting CDM and got Rudiger on free. Some of the blame had to go to Perez too, pinning his hopes entirely on Mbappe and not even trying to reinforce the squad even after he renewed with PSG.

Tchou was terrific when he first joined and seamlessly integrated into the CDM position. Defensively not as sound as Case ofcourse, but better going forward, more press resistant etc. Recent injury and world cup has taken a toll. I mean, even Case had horrible days where opposition would run over him. But I really think it is more mental for him right now... dude missed a wc final penalty.
He's definitely a good player, but I would feel the team safer defensively and more balanced having Case available.
Yes Case is definitely more sound defensively. And to be fair to Tchou, the vision for him, I believe, was not to be Case's replacement in the KCM. He was bought as part of our midfield rebuild with Cama, Fede, Bellingham (if we sign him). And now we can add Ceballos to the mix. Just that Modric and Kroos are refusing to slow down lol. But yeah,only Case can do Case's job the best xD And I admire the club never (or atleast for the vast majority) holding any player hostage. "You want to leave? I may be mistaken but I'm not sure Case necessarily wanted to leave? Like I know he definitely agreed to go to Manchester, we didn't kick him out, but I'm sure he would have been happy retiring here. Don't remember seeing any news about him pushing for a move (Not in a rebellious way, just in any way lol) But yeah we need a Case replacement, every part of KCM was essential to make it work so amazingly, need someone that takes the defensive role a bit more. I think Tchouameni can grow to do that just needs more time and experience, he definitely has the physicality.
That is the good thing.. Case was an utmost professional. Man Utd came knocking for him in the summer, and he let Perez and the management know of his desire to go there. He mentioned it in his speech. He never made any fuss. The original plan for us was to get Tchou a little cheaper so he can be an understudy to Case, but when this happened we just went all in for him. He was never "LET ME GO!", rather a "Hey I have this incredible opportunity that I would like to pursue" and everyone just worked together to make it happen for one of our most decorated players of the past decade and our best ever midfield trio so far
