This has been the story of park slope for at least a generation. If you want one of the best burgers in the city walk over to 282 on atlantic and smith.
I struggle with this one - I think their breakfast options are awesome but literally everything else is so whack. Cobb Salad?? so fucking weird. Haven't tried any of the Mexican specialties. What's your go-to?
Patty Melt w a side of chipotle mayo lol I love them and especially in diners. Also the menu is massive but it reminds me of the diners when I was a kid…they also used to have everything, they even do Greek food
The rents are insane in park slope, and the price of beef has gone up like crazy. Bonnie’s has the best burger in the hood, imo, and it’s $13 with no toppings or fries. All of their burgers with toppings are closer to $18. This is the furthest you can get from fancy schmancy, that’s just what food costs now, due to food, labor, and rent prices.
Is the vibe fancy at the new Ale House? I loved the vibe at the old one, it was one of a few true sports bars in the area. Dram Shop is another great sports bar, their burgers are $18 with fries. Also not at all fancy.
Yeah, I can't overly hold a grudge against them for charging that much for a burger, was just my go to example. I also paid $12 without tip for well whiskey. They ripped out all the booths, turned up the lights, just sort of killed the chill vibe
Haven't been to the new place yet, but taking out the booths was a weird choice. I never saw that place packed enough to warrant ripping them out for extra space, and I feel like booths are an integral part of being a pub / ale house instead of a typical bar.
Went for the first time since they reopened. Getting rid of all the booths was unfortunate. I thought the food was fine, but what they're charging is definitely high (the chicken spiedie was either 16 or 18 dollars). The fries are incredibly mediocre.
Yeah I mean honestly if yr going for that vibe, it seems decent- just disappointed to lose one of the few slightly grimy places left in the hood (RIP Carriage House the king of grime)
Shame Tommy and his wife were decent people wonder how they ended up. I will admit the place took a nose dive in quality over the last couple of years. Will check it out to see… shame the booths are gone though. Love that esthetic.
We talkin about this place?

I havent been and google menus arent super reliable but the prices they show look very reasonable. $8.95 burger

I went to Terrace over the weekend really enjoyed the place! Mexican diner with cocktails and reasonably priced compared to the neighborhood.
I love Terrace! I go all the time. They’re super welcoming as well. Decent cocktails too for a diner.
Yeah definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood
Where is it? On the map I only see coffee shops with that name.
Right between Calexico and Two Boots on 5th

Their Greek salad is so nasty!! Omg the weird feta and mixed greens?! No way no way
I mean I just wouldn’t order a salad at a diner. Idk time and place for things.
Hard disagree. The best diners have the best salads.
Their Mexican stuff is way better. Their traditional diner food is mediocre. I’ve never had their breakfast though.

That’s a shame, I like the booths and the dark lighting. Dram Shop still has that dark vibe.
Yeah- And Commissioner is the same early in the night (by the end it gets a bit too dark)
I like the burger and the atmosphere at Prospect.
Yes! Wonderful folks there
Spice burger with curry fries and the Black Horse is up there too.
The spice burger at Black Horse is up there, along with curry sauce for your fries.

Sea Witch is your burger friend
I was pretty disappointed with the new food and what you get for the price. Hope things improve as they find their feet a bit.
Is this under new management or same management with a new look?
They got bought out by the group that bought out littleneck and runs claro
Cool, I like those places. I’ll have to check it out. Last time I was at Ale House was about a year ago and it was pretty gross

There is always Smith’s!!!
the best
Carriage House was grimy AF!

Nooooooo this is a massive bummer to hear.
Never really went there tbh

Ale House is gone and has been replaced by this new restaurant that OP has mentioned
I went over the weekend, it was fine I guess, but agree with your assessment. I kinda miss the vibe of the old one.
