I'd argue its the opposite - this season is a write-off so what's the point in beating yourself up when the car simply isn't WDC-level? Especially when you already do have 7 WDCs. Also, the car isn't good by Mercedes standards but its a regular podium capable car and not like some Alonso-McLaren 2015 level car which probably helps preventing even more frustration.
